normally the battery gives up in this vacuum cleaners through my experience

confirm the charger first
use a voltage tester to check the voltage coming from the charger

the voltage will read from 12volts to 18 volts
depending you vacuum model.

My dc 16 rechargeable vacuum won't work

far as i know the dyson dc 16 root 6 vacuum uses a lithium ion battery with a charge of 21.6 volts. it could be that either your battery isnt storing the right amount of power anymore and you may need to replace it. check on the specifications to confirm how much volts the battery is supposed to have. too little volts may be enough for things like lights to switch on, but not enough for the motor to start up.

After charging overnight, Roomba only runs about 25 minutes before shutting down with a red light. At this point the battery measures 15.13 volts ( about 1.26 volts per cell ) My hobby experience is that a...

Reset the Roomba by removing it from the charger, then holding "spot" and "dock" for about twelve seconds. When you let go, the unit will play an ascending series of notes. Then recharge it overnight. If the run time is still short, give Customer Support a call-- be sure to have the Roomba with you when you do.

Bosch Vacuum Cleaner: I changed bag. Cleaned out all suction hose and hepa filters, however, my 1450 w 12 amp upright vacuum cleaner will die after five minute run - overheating. Please advise.

Greetings from GoVacuum.com,

It sounds like you may have a bad thermal switch inside the machine. Most vacuum cleaners have a switch connected to the motor, so if the vacuum cleaner is running hot, it will shut off to prevent any damage to your motor. You did all the right things by checking the bag, making sure the hose was NOT clogged, and replacing HEPA filter.

Most of the time on canister vacuums, the reason is caused by a clog in the hose, or somewhere in the powerhead. If you're sure that there is no clog anywhere, it is going to be the thermal switch on the motor.

Here's a link to the parts schematic for the Bosch upright vacuum. I hope it helps you in determining how to access the thermal switch. A word of warning to you before you try it, this is a very tough vacuum cleaner to work on, you may want to bring it in to a vacuum repair shop, as this is not an easy repair.
