AC chronotherm IV plus t-stat has no display and AC has gone off. Started after i accidentally switched the AC breaker to off for this AC unit. I have tried cycling the breaker and AC disconnect several times, but T-stat not display anything and AC will not come on. AC is about 13 years old. drain line is clean as i pour in bleach twice a year. No liquid in clean drain pan. this is a AMANA unit
Is this ac disconnect fused .if yes then check to see if the fuses are blown .
Also check to see if you are putting the disconnect correctly.
If you did then you need to check if there is power to unit .You can do that with a meter and check for voltage OR just push the contactor in and see if unit run .
If unit runs when contactor is push in then you have a low voltage issue .
Is the thermostat runs on batteries
Either the 5 amp fuse is blown on the indoor unit, transformer is bad or float switch is tripped.

Testimonial: "Thank you for your suggestions. next day i opened the cover to the blower motor to check the fuse. Fuse was ok. I then flipped the power switch on and pressed the override switch. i heard a click and it seemed it had reset it self. I put the panel back on. Now it is working again. I am very glad it started back up by it self. Why did it take so long to reset?"
There's no telling. Those boards can lock themselves out and need a hard reset sometimes.
I want to change out the outside contactor, as a precaution. Should i get a "Hard Start" or just a normal contactor?
Thanks for all your advise
First off a hard start has nothing to do with a contactor. So, I hope you mean capacitor. Second, a hard start is not a substitute for a run capacitor. Your system would need both if you decided on installing a hard start. Third, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Those pieces I am referring to are extremely unlikely of repairing themselves. None of which would require the hard reset that you had performed. Let it run!!
great thought, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
should i buy a spare capacitor and contactor to keep on hand, as this AC is around 13 years old. It is a Amana Unit
Thanks
