Luxor TV won't connect to preset tv channel apps. It keeps saying it needs to be connected to an aerial but it shouldn't because these apps should work through the wifi. Help please?

  • Jo Broughton Jun 26, 2017

Did you fix your issue? I have the 43 inch Luxor smart tv and it won't open any apps because it says I need to be connected via the aerial too. I don't have an aerial connection. Hence why I bought a smart tv.

No haven't managed to yet. Think we'll need to buy an aerial for it. My daughter mostly runs her laptop through it now . She can watch youtube and netflix as well through the apps but that's about it!

Did you get any advice elsewhere. My Luxor tv is doing the same thing. I don't have aerial input. Hence why I bought a smart tv. Netflix and YouTube are fine.

SOURCE: Connecting Sony PS2 to Panasonic HT32LZD85

First off you need to retire that ps2 and join the PS3 revolution, well worth the money although with the recent drop of the inferior x-box 360 the PS3 may follow suit shortly.

Now, I'm gathering from your discription limited as it may be that you had an adapter that connected the the stock cable that was included with your ps2 which consists of the end that interfaces with the ps2 and the end that is ment to provide the signal to your tv which includes your composite video (yellow) and your left and right audio (red&white).

If this is case then it should be a simple matter of removing the adapter that changed the source (ps2) signal to aerial and pluging the yellow red and white cables direct to your tv (standard imputs at the rear of the television should be video 1,2,3 ect.

Then just make sure your tv is on and set to the correct imput and you should be rockin and rolling in no time.

SOURCE: I want to add a DVD recorder into my TV set up

If I'm right On the DVD recorder there should be an aerial input and an output. Connect external aerial to the output then run a second from the output to the TV. Then use the HDMI to connect the DVD. This will then give you the option of recording one channel on the DVD whilst watching another thru the receiver thats built into the TV. You will then get the best poss picture when viewing DVD

My luxor model16-914-tvb TV will not set channel s when self/auto tuning keeps coming up and says no antenna connection. Know the airal connection is OK as have tried lead that we used on smart tv

So if you have confirmed that your antenna is good and delivering sufficient signal strength, then the issue has to be with a defective front end or tuner section. Usually located on main board of set.

What's your question? I just bought Finesse tv but it does show any channels its just blue screen only ive tried to do automatic channel preset but nothing happens

The blue screen shows that you do not have a signal coming into the TV. So it sounds like you have the wrong input selected and or no aerial connected. Check the manual look for the inputs menu any cycle through them. My best guess is the DTV (Digital TV) input is not selected or you have it selected but no aerial plugged into receive a signal.

Once you have confirmed this run the automatic channel pre-set again.

I have a brand new technika tv 216/54g. It has freeview built in. I have a brand new indoor digital amplified aerial also technika but I cant get it to pick up any stations. Do I need anything else? please...

Hi there,

You don't necessarily need anything else, but you may not have a strong enough signal to pick up the digital/freeview channels using an indoor aerial. It could also be that the indoor aerial is not correctly aligned.

If the signal strength is lower than approx. 50%, the TV may detect them during the automatic channel scan but it wont store them. When the signal strength for any digital channel is 50% or lower it's more or less unwatchable - the picture would be constantly breaking-up or freezing and the audio drops out continually. Trying to scan for channels using an indoor aerial is rather hit and miss. Numerous attempts may be necessary before you get any channels.

Assuming you have a roof aerial, it is far easier to temporarily connect the TV to a fixed aerial point while you run the automatic channel scan. The TV will store all the channels and you can then move it to it's permanent location and connect the indoor aerial. You can then adjust the indoor aerial with the channels already stored until you find a location for the aerial where you have a good signal.

Doing it this way also eliminates the possibility of a fault with the TV and confirms that you are performing the channel scan correctly. If the TV is connected to a fixed aerial point and you are still unable to receive or store any channels, then it's likely that you are performing the channel scan incorrectly or there is a fault with the TV.

Please try scanning your channels using a known working fixed aerial point. If you are still unable
to receive any channels - or you don't have any fixed aerial points - please post back for further assistance.

Hope this helps.

hi when fitting an new aerial line you need to put a splitter in the line.
4963215_1-oo4k03phwtyaxld0gomgkgbv-2-0.jpg it looks like this. they say satellite/tv on them this will stop interference from the boosters and the tvs on the same line, you connect it on the main arial line. you can then use both boosters if signal is weak but most digital aerials are good enough without them. it you have the right arial for your area. there are meany sizes. but say you are 15 miles from your tower then use a small aerial has the same fitting as this pic. that is out side aerials, inside aerials ie in loft you need a high gain aerial , long type. hope this helps. also if the aerial is not lined up it will not get great signal there is an app you can use on iphone or androids, tables etc to help you position the aerial in the right place it's called Uk aerial alignment . tool on app shows you the towers in your area and the best ones to use and shows you the aliment to the tower for best results. good luck

Find channels

You say you`ve plugged the outside aerial lead directly into the DVD recorder aerial input socket, you connected an aerial link lead from the aerial output socket on the DVD recorder and you`ve got a Scart lead from the TV output socket on the rear of the DVD recorder into the AV1 socket on the TV. I`m saying all this because in the past, I`ve had customers say this to me only to find when I call round that they`ve plugged the aerial into phono sockets instead of the earial input socket. The aerial lead will fit physically but not electrically. Have you got a good picture on your TV with the DVD recorder switched to standby?? If yes, Does it play a DVD perfectly through the TV?? If yes, then everything is connected up correctly, When you press the virgin menu button to your DVD, it should show setup/install?? When you do get to the free-view or channel setup/install menu, and you tell it to search for new channels, does it scan?? Does a bar or do the numbers rise and the % number rise as it finds new channels?? If they do and everything is connected and working as I described earlier but still no channels are found, Try unplugging from the mains and reboot your DVD recorder, then repeat the whole menu install procedure sequence again. Other than that, there`s nothing else you can do, Basically, you`ve got a faulty machine where it requires an engineers eye I`m afraid. Ian

Suddenly no sound & no picture overnight: is my TV dead?

If you have static siugnal, sure TV is not dead.

Check the aerial cable, ensure it is well plugged in and getting signal.

If you are using a receiver box, check cables to TV and receiver (freeview, sat, cable etc.), try setting channels on receiver again, if it does not work but you get static, then either the cables or receiver are defective.

Test the TV on standalone , connecting it to an external antenna.
Tune again the channels, and save the preset.
If still no signal then the antenna socket on the TV may be defective.

Try using the TV with a DVD.

If you can watch DVDs, and TV is not keeping channels preset, and you tried all the above, at this point htere may be a fault in the tuner card inside tv.

Call the phone number listed on tv user manual to get support, and eventually repair it.

Freeview box

After scanning the box should save the channel automatically. If the box does not save the preset after scanning channels, then it is probably faulty.
Some box has a pinhole reset button at the back, if you have this reset button keep it pressed with a pencil for 10 seconds to reset the freeview box.
If it does not work, the nbox is probably faulty.

With freeview you only pay for few scrambled channels, the most of them are free and do not need any additional fee.

Freeview is not available in all areas, check that you have freeview in your location, and that aerial is well connected to the box, otherwise not finding channels is normal.
