SOURCE: I have 16 hp Craftsman riding mower with a Kohler engine.

It may think you are in reverse and is killing the motor to keep you from backing up with the blade running. Look for switch that is telling it when you are in reverse, maybe it is stuck with grass or other debris. another possibility is that the blades are jammed and they are stalliing the motor. Mines stalls easily when cold.

SOURCE: snapper rear engine riding mower clutch

It is time to replace the driven wheel. When you flip the mower up on the back end (after closing the vent on the top of the fuel cap), the driven wheel is the disc that has rubber on the outer edge that rides on the silvery disc that comes off the end of the motor. The last time I bought one was about 7 years ago, at which time it cost me about $7.85. I would expect it to be around $11-12 these days.

SOURCE: engine stalls when clutch/brake pedal is released

Under the seat, there is a operator presence switch, if this switch fails, the mower will shut off when the brake is released, or put in any gear.

SOURCE: lawn tractor won't stay running if clutch is released.

There is an operator presence switch under the seat...it is more than likely faulty and must be replaced in order for the mower to run right.

Why will my Poulan Pro PO16542LT riding mower only go forward and backwards when clutch is engaged but when clutch is released it stops moving?

It sounds like there may be an issue with the drive belt on your Poulan Pro PO16542LT riding mower. When you engage the clutch, the belt tightens and provides power to the wheels, allowing the mower to move forward or backward. When you release the clutch, the belt should become loose and the mower should stop moving.
If the belt is loose or damaged, it may not be providing enough power to the wheels when the clutch is engaged. This could cause the mower to move slowly or not at all. When you release the clutch, the belt may not be loose enough to completely disengage from the wheels, which could cause the mower to continue moving slowly or even stall.
To check the drive belt, you'll need to consult the owner's manual for your specific model of mower. The manual should provide instructions for inspecting and replacing the belt if necessary. Alternatively, you may want to take the mower to a professional for repairs if you're not comfortable working on it yourself.

Ford 5000 pto

i believe the lever is on the left side that operates the pto. on some models it will have a plate stating its the pto, you'll have to start the tractor, and engage the clutch, then engage the pto, and release the clutch. Others you simply engage the pto once you've started the tractor

Polan 14.5 rifding mower won't stay running when clutch released

Either a problem with the seat switch, or just make sure the block connecter that gose to the switch is fully pushed into the switch if its even slightly off it will stop the engine.

Hello, am after a service manual for above strimmer, bought it second hand and it needs a bit of tlc.

Since I see no make or model number, I would like to ask you to go here to look. If you are in Austrailia, then you will find that your Talon trimmers are very similar to the Homelite and Ryobi trimmers here.

This is a link to owner's/user manuals. Repair (if you need) manuals are available for certain equipment, but they cost money.

Release clutch/ brake pedal engine stops / as well engage clutch lever for mover / engine stops. Thank you for taking my question . engine runs well no problem starting engine stops when place mower in...

Hi Carl,

Just had this happen to me. The mower had sat all winter. During that time a couple bearings froze up.

It took a pipe wrench to free them up.

I worked in some oil and that solved it.

You need to check each pulley and bearing to see if you can spin it. If you can't, oil it first, then try to **** it free.

Once it lets go, a little more oil and you are all set.

Best regards
Mike

Craftsman 16 hp 42 in. riding mower won't run when clutch is released

If the engine feels like it is being choked, then something might be catching or bound up...for example the blades may have been installed improperly and will not rotate. Make sure that you can rotate the blades by hand...if not they may have been tightened and are binding against the mower housing.

If there is no engine choking...then it may be electrical for example a bad fault switch...take it to your mower shop.

good luck
