Why won't my wii console power up when I plug it in to a power source?

Ok. Sometimes there is a problem in the power brick. This is the little box on the cable that connects to the wii console. Here's the trick to try to reset it: First, unplug the cable from both the wii and the wall outlet. Leave it unplugged for at least 30 minutes. Then, proceed to plug it back into the wii and then plug it into the power outlet. If the trick doesn't work and your wii still won't power on, you may need a replacement power supply for it. I have added an Amazon link. Hope this helps you out!

My wii won't turn on!

Disconnect all the cords from the system. You will need to unplug the A/C adapter/power cord from your wii system and from the electrical socket/or power surge protecter bar. It should not be connected to any thing! Let it sit unconecteded for about ten minutes. This should reset it. Then replug the adapter/power cord back in to electical outlet and to the wii system. Then press the power button on the wii, it should turn back on. Replug the rest of the cords back in for the system. If this does not work I suggest that you buy a new ac adapter/power cord, there could be a short in the one you have before you send in your system to be fixed You can buy a new A/C adapter/power cord on ebay for about 5 to 10 dollars, usually with free shipping.

Wii console power light is not on. The console is plugged in.

Try the following (this was taken from Nintendo's website and the following link

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/ts/power.jsp
  1. Unplug the Wii AC adapter at both ends (from the back of the Wii system and from the wall outlet or power strip).
    acunplug.png
  2. The AC adapter must remain unplugged at both ends for a full 2 minutes.
  3. We also recommend you unplug anything connected to the USB ports and the Nintendo GameCube Controller ports (such as LAN Adapters, keyboards, Nintendo GameCube controllers, etc.).
  4. While you're waiting, check the AC Adapter for the following:
  • Make sure that the word "Wii" and the model number "RVL-002 (USA)" molded into the AC adapter. Unlicensed products are not fully compatible and may not work correctly.
  • Check the AC Adapter for physical damage. Physical damage, such as frayed wiring or a cracked housing can cause the system to shut down. If your AC Adapter shows signs of physical damage and needs to be replaced, you can purchase one from Nintendo's online store.

After you've waited 2 minutes, plug the AC adapter into the Wii system and directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector or power strip. If the power light comes on and stays on, then it appears resetting the AC Adapter worked.

Also, see if you have a friend that has a Wii, and try their power cord on your unit. You may have a faulty cord.

Good luck.

Console will not power up

Try to reset the AC adapter.
Unplug everything from the console, then unplug the power cord from the Wii and the wall outlet. Let it sit for 60 seconds and plug it back in.

The power won't come on and everything is plugged in correctly. what could be the problem? i have double-checked the connections and unlugged and plugged back in everything. i always put it into sleep mode...

Cords go bad more often that you might think. Try replacing your power cord, make sure you purchase someplace that accepts returns because it could be internal Wii problems (impossible to diagnose w/o seeing) and the cord not be the fix....but I bet theres at least a 50% chance it'll fixya up.

Blank white or blank dark screen
  • Is this your first time hooking up the Wii console or have you moved it to another TV or VCR? If so, please click here to review our step-by-step connection guide. Our experience shows that the majority of these issues can be solved by double-checking your connection and finding the correct Input Select for your TV or VCR.

  • If you have verified the connection is correct, and are still receiving a blank white or blank dark screen when powering on your Wii console, then the problem is likely with the system and it will need to be repaired. Please click here for repair options.

    HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!

I've had this same problem. Remove the batteries from the remotes. Then disconnct the power cord from the back of the Wii and disconnect the power cord from the wall. Let it sit for 5 min. Double check that the sensor bar is plugged into the Wii and check the cord for any breaks that might stop the signal. After you are sure that the sensor bar is connected and the 5 min. have gone by plug it all back in, install your batteries and re-sync it.
