information is that the sim card will work in both countries on an unlocked phone
I would go to a phone retails shop or retail service provider as the irish sim card may require a PUK code to work it or the sim card may be faulty
I went google and typed in --differences between irish and uk sim cards--- and there are plenty of sites and answers that may help you with an explanation
This is a normal behavior when a phone does not have a valid/working SIM card. Without a valid/working SIM card or even without a SIM card, the phone can still be used for emergency call.
it means your daro card is not supported your sim card so you have to change your sim card or daro. if you want to keep your sim card then go to sim service center and tell him to provide you new sim card as a same number they will help you
If your mobile phone is on a contract with a service provider, most of the times it will be locked in with them for the duration of the contract, So if you try to insert a sim card from a different service provider, it may say "sim card not valid' Try to insert your original sim card and see if that works.
Otherwise if this IS your original sim card and all of a sudden this message "sim card not valid" has appeared, then the sim card has gone faulty and you need to get a new sim card from your service provider eg... Vodafone.
your phone is locked to virgin, which means u can only put virgin carrier sim. if u want to stay with vodafone, u can either unlock it through virgin, u will be charged or just buy a new phone
If your phone is telling you that your Sim card is not valid.
There is two possible conditions.
1) There is water on you sim card or it is dirty
What to do: Take yout phone apart (back caver, batteries, SIM card, abd
memcard) dry everything and clean it up. Then put it back together.
OR

Only thing to do: Buy a new Sim card.
