SOURCE: lpine Type-X 5.25 component speakers- Crossover problem

You can use any providing you can determine the max voltage in the device and the polarity.
If the capacitor in the unit has a wire out of each end and both ends have indents then it's a non-polar type.
Speaker capacitors for tweeters tend to be around 2uf.
The Voltage of the capacitor should be bigger than any voltage in the device.

SOURCE: no led on one Polk audio RT300P (bottom piece),

Hi have these speakers too and both crossovers in the bottom (sub) piece is not working. You may want to remove the amp assembly (8 screws?) and check the fuses before you send it in for repair there should be two of them. Polk no longer makes these units so they will most likely ask you to send it in for a repair estimate.

SOURCE: Capacitor value needed for KitchenAid stand mixer 3-C

had the same problem with mine, and couldn't read the values, so took one out of another mixer that was good. the tested value on the good one was around 107 nano farads. run your mixer without the cap for a short time only, to see if the speed problem is corrected. If slow speeds will work, then you know it to be the capacitor. Do not leave out for long period of time, you will burn out contacts and poss. outher components

SOURCE: Peavey SP 2G has a burnt ceramic capacitor in crossover

Ive been through this. Although it certainly appears to be a ceramic capacitor, its actually called a polyswitch. .65 amp. Parts express carries them. Part no. 071-256.

Sound went limp i think it the crossover

Define limp. No highs or no volume?

Logically, what one thing would affect both speakers? Logically, how would a crossover failure mute anything but the tweeter?

So, what happened just BEFORE this problem appeared?

I'd look at the electronics.
