42PF7220A/37 Blinking red led (7 times)

Nothing out of normal with the TV except that when I turned it on today it has the red led blinking 7 times in a row repeatedly. Disconnected it and reconnected after a couple minutes. The green led came on but after about 5 sec the red led started blinking again.

I got mine about 1yr+2mo ago from Costco.

Has anyone found a solution!

When i turn on my tv it tries to boot, blue mitsubishi home screen come up, i hear fan then it all shuts off while green light blinks.

Try a reset. Start by unplugging for 1 minute, then plug back in & if still won't restart try the following. If none of the following work, you will need a technician.

Initializing the TV in many cases can remedy a problem.

I own a Philips 42PF7220A/37 42'' TV (LED flashes red, some people on the net say its the capacitor c2074 to be replaced with a 2200uf 35v. for some reason i cant seem to find that capacitor number. can...

Most likely the problem is your Philips 42PF7220A/37, may not have the same power supply board as other people are talking about on the net. So, the C2074 capacitor maybe under a different number.
The best thing I would do if I had the same problem is to get a Service Manual on the internet. It cost about less than $20. Right now your TV is in " Protection Mode" and blinking a trouble code with the red light. The Service Manual will tell you what the red light blinking code means. Plus, it will give you schematics, part numbers list, and test point for diagnosing. It's better to have a manual for fixing than going by guesses over the internet.

Philips 42PF7220A/37B shuts after 10-15 min. LED Blinks 5 times

I had the Same issue. on a 50PF9431D/37 set. Many Plasma Set's use a LJ44-00118A PS-505-PH Power supply from Samsung. Known to have this common problem. If you can, or have a friend that can Solder components?. Unplug your set remove the back panel & locate your power supply. It will be the PCB in the center of the set just above the Video/Audio connections. http://www.shopjimmy.com/power-supply-unit-lj44-00118a-from-philips-50mf231d-40.htm. Is a Link to a photo of the PCB. Make a note of the locations of all cable connections then unplug them all. Un-install PCB, Check all Fuse first. I believe their is 5 or 6 of them on the PCB. Then replace the two 3300uf 10v 105C Radial capacitors at C8060 & C8059. Look to see if the Caps are deformed and or split at the top. The location of the caps are in the Lower bottom edge of the PCB. A local shop may Carrie them if not, digi-key has them. Part # http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=493-1754-ND. Total cost was $7 with S/H.

Philips 42PF7220A/37 42'' TV (LED flashes red 7 times)

Five buck solution; If you have any tek skills at all and are feeling adventurous; UNPLUG THE POWER, remove the back panel; You will be faced with the mainboard. In the lower right quadrant you will see two small capacitors, like tiny yellowish coke cans. If these are bulging, there lies your problem. These must be replaced. If you have no soldering skills, take only the mainboard to a fixit shop and have them solder in the two capacitors easily found on line. No guarantee's but worth a try
