Ink absorbers inside the printer unit, which is also called "waste pads" is actually a thick, hard, and small pad that can hold a huge volume of waste inks.

The Ink absorber is usually found inside the printer, underneath the catridge oparking area when the printer is not printing. You can see them when the printer is printing a document and moves away from the parked area.

It is used to absorb the small amounts of ink that may drip out of the catridge after a print job, and it also stops the cartridges drying out.

They usually last the life of the porinter and do not need to be touched.

How do I remove and replace the ink absorber pad/tank on my Brother MFC - J220

The ink absorber tank is buried deep within the machine, and in Brother's terms a "non user replaceable item".

If you fancy a challenge, you need to remove the upper cover of the machine and the tank is located on the right hand side, just in fornt of the ink cartridge unit. If your machine has a document feeder, this needs to be removed first by lifting the little "hatches" that hide the wires to/from the reader, and disconnecting the wires. Once the hatch on the left hand side has been lifted, this ,also allows the support strut to be unclipped. The doc feeder can then be hinged right back at which point it can be lifted off its hinges.

Brother state that the hoses which connect to the maintance unit (the clever bit that does all the head cleaning business) to the tank "must" be replaced as well. In my expereince, so long as you're careful when removeing them from the old tank and connecting them to the new one, they don't leak.

I don't bother replacing the tank - I pull out the ink-soaked padding (carefully as it drips everywhere) and then put some sponge or thick paper towel in instead. Make sure you put tape over the hole once you're finished in case ink spashes out.

Give print return white page

I suppose that you changed the printer ink tanks and after that the problem occured. This is a prblem of inkjet printers and the source of the problem is the purge tube. When you put new ink tank the printer recognizes it and starts the initial testing for readyness. It tries to drive ink from the newly installed tank to the purge tube and after that to internal absorbent pad and after that you should be ready to print. When the purge tube is clogged the testing process stops and you cannot print. You can search for DIY methods of repair or to contact your nearest service center.

How can i find the waste ink tank?

You have to disassemble the printer to find the entire waste ink tank (they are just two sets of absorbant pads). The first set of absorbant pads are under where the ink cartridges sit when at rest (or during cleaning cycles). The rest are at the bottom of the printer and you usually have to remove several screws to get to the location. Start at the top of the printer and work your way down.

I hope this helps.

Ink absorber nearly full keep gettiing the prompt. Like to know solution.

Hi. I think the problem on that one is the waste ink tank is already full, so you need to clean it or replace the pads on it, because when you are printing or opening your printer it blows little amount of ink to the heads so that it will not be clogged, and that ink goes into the used/waste ink tank. Also after cleaning the used/waste ink tank you need to reset the counter of the printer so that it would print again, you can just download the counter reset software over the internet or just bring that machine to an authorize canon printer technician. Hope this Helps

The ink absorber is full on my Canon IP2000 ink jet printer. How do I empty it please?

The waste ink absorbers are a pair of pads on the sides of the carriage near the bottom of the printer. You need to open up the printer (pop the top off). It is just clipped into place and held by its own pressure (you can usually see how it's held in). Unscrew (if needed) the ink carriage (leave the cartridges in place) and push it out of your way.

Wear gloves and have plenty of newspaper or something handy. Pull the pads out and rinse them clean (running water works well). Blot dry or let them dry in the sun. Use a hair dryer to get the last bit of moisture out if you are in a hurry. Then reassemble the unit. Then reset the counter for the waste ink tank.

To reset the counter:
1 - press resume button and then press power button
2 - realese the resume button and press 2 more times then realese both
3 - press and release resume 4 times and power 2 times...

I hope this helps.

(under normal use, the waste ink absorber is supposed to register a full counter at the expected end-of-life of the printer. Additional failures may happen soon.)

What is waste ink obserber? How it will be replaced?

waste ink pad absorber is like a waste tank made of absorbent pads, in here the waste ink is absorbed. In time this waste ink pad will be saturated or full. When it happens the printer will suddenly stop working. The printer needs to be reset to function again and the waste ink pad replaced to prevent flooding of waste ink inside the printer. The waste ink pad is replaced by disassembling the printer.

Won't print. I get a message that waste ink absorber is full. What do I do?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Open the cover, move the cartridges to the centre, and then press the pad of absorbent paper towel onto the waste ink pads. You can locate the waste ink pads to the right of the cartridges. This will absorb a lot of ink in the pads and that will remove the warning after you reset the printer waste ink tank counter. To reset your Printer please tell me the model number of your Unit so that I can provide you with model specific information.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Waste Ink Tank absorber full, Need new absorber tank.

On Canon machines it's not a tank, it's an absorbent pad that covers the entire bottom of the printer case. You need a shop to replace it and reset the counter.
