My MQ3-35 Grundfos pump will run for a few seconds after I turn it on, but then it shuts down and will no longer turn on automatically. Is there a pressure sensing switch that may need to be replaced?
The pump keeps my system pressured and usually turn on a few seconds after opening a tap in the house.

It can only be three different things you've got air in the line or your pressure tank which is called the exterol tank could be losing pressure you might need a new air gauge pressure gauge on your tank or number three you have a leaky faucet somewhere or like I said air in the line if I had more details I could tell you exactly what it was
I would first check to see if any valves are partially closed, increasing the run time of your pump and causing over heating. Next I would check for any possible obstructions to water flow.
Grundfos pumps are designed to shut down when they are at risk of overheating and burning out which requires a manual reset. This can also be caused by insufficient water in the system, so you may want to bleed out any air that may be in it.
Close the outlet valve then turn electrical switch on manual for a few seconds until any air is pushed out then open the valve and return electrical switch to automatic.
SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A LEAK DOWNSTREAM PROBABLY UNDERGROUND. THE PUMP HAS NO REASON TO COME ON EXCEPT TO BUILD THE PRESSURE BACK UP. HOPEFULLY YOU HAVE A GAUGE IN THE DISCHARGE LINE YOU CAN WATCH IT DROP AFTER THE SYSTEM SHUTS OFF. HOPE THIS HELPS, JODY
