I also have the wrongly designed Samsung SRF 680 CDLS. Ice box problems followed by freezer stopped working all backed up by a company (Samsung) which will not admit that the expensive item they supplied to consumers is faulty . The medium good news , the fridge has been working O.K. for the last year and since Samsung technician inspected the problem and told me the best thing you can do with this 6 years old fridge which cost me $3500 is to throw it . PLEASE BE CAREFULL IF YOU ARE BUYING A SAMSUNG FRIDGE WITH WATER AND ICE COMPONENT.

Unfortunately my experiences, plural, have all been negative when it comes to dealing with Samsung on the subject of their refrigerators. I own one myself and have been trying to deal with Samsung for almost three years with virtually no success. Their units are unnecessarily complex and I would definitely recommend NOT trying to dismantle your unit yourself. Samsung will use any excuse they can think of to blame your problem on YOU and for the most part will NOT support their retail customers. The internet contains complaints about Samsung that number over 25,000. 'Nuff said

SOURCE: F&P Active Smart E521TRE Removing freezer back panel

My fridge (E440T but I believe the E522B is similar) had a broken fan wire and i had to pull off the rear panel and re-solder a wire. I created a document for others to follow that shows the rear panel removal if interested at http://www.accentis.com.au/downloads/misc/How I fixed my Fisher and Paykel Fridge Active Smart Fridge.pdf

Thanks to all postings on this site - it really helped a lot.

SOURCE: side by side fridge not cooling, not making ice

if it seems like the evaporator is getting cold then your sealed system should appear to be ok. you need the evap fan to transfer cold air into fresh food section. if not turning u need to replace fan motor. make sure your not getting to much frost build up on the evap.

Samsung SRS583 HDP fridge stop working. freezer stopped first and fridge became hot too. wHAT MAY BE THE REASON? And how to fix this?

  • Be sure the fridge is plugged in and getting power. The light should come on when you open the door.
  • Check the thermostat to make sure it hasn't been turned way down by mistake. If your fridge/freezer thermostat isn't working,
  • Be sure the vents on the back of the freezer compartment aren't blocked by boxes of ice cream or frozen vegetables-the vents have to be clear for cold air to circulate.
  • Vacuum the coils under or behind the fridge. Clogged coils can cause poor cooling.
  • Check to make sure nothing is stuck in the condenser fan and that it spins freely (models with coils on the back won't have a fan). To do this, unplug the fridge and pull it out. Clean the fan blades and spin the fan by hand to see if it's stuck. Plug in the fridge and make sure the fan runs when the compressor is running. If the fan doesn't run, replace it.

I need a right hand crisper draw for a Samsung refridgerator model srf680cdls

Hello Kate Nicholas,

Your model srf680cdls... does not respond domestically in the USA... If you provide your ACTUAL PART NUMBER I could attempt to check CRISPER availability ... here (you appear to have an "AU" model.

Just looking around the large plastic body would appear to cost about $60 (USA)... I'm pretty sure we share the MANY of the same internal part numbers..

How do I Prevent ice dispenser from freezing up? Ice is in the ice bucket but will not disperse.

The ice stays in the cubemaker tray for a set time and then empties into the bucket. If the freezer was too warm the ice wasn't frozen enough when the cube maker emptied it and it all stuck together. Now the fridge is cold again empty the bucket, make sure there is no ice stuck in the dispenser and try again. If it is a Samsung fridge do the above and turn it off for 30 seconds and back on again. Sometimes the controller and display freezes and reads the wrong temperature.

E442B Fridge is not cold & some ice build up in fridge. How do you remove the back of inside of freezer to check ice build up there?

don't mess about with it just remove items and get a new one sound like its leaked it's gas (BUT DON'T PANIC) its not harmful and its not going to blow up! you could call a engineer but a lot of the time your just as good putting that money towards a new one

I left the bottom freezer of my 650 ajar and when I returned the unit was producing a loud buzz - presumably a motor or fan. It turns off if I pull the shelf that contains the ice tray forward.

When the door is left open alot of condensation forms in your fridge which freezes and ices up. This build-up will gather around your evaporator fan which sometimes stops it from working or sometimes the fan blades scrape on the ice built up.

Best to manually defrost your freezer. Empty your freezer. Turn fridge off. Put a pot of boiling water and close the door. Leave for some time to defrost the ice. You can repeat this a couple of times to defrost the ice. Otherwise you can use a blow-dryer as well.

When you defrost, and turn your fridge back on. Everything should go back to normal.

Hi Fridge side fan was noise for 3 days and now

Hi I have same unit. Problem is the fridge circulator fan gradually ices up, becomes noisy and then stops when frozen up.
To fix quickly you need to remove all shelves drawers etc, then unfasten lower panel fixings and find the whole back is full of ice including the fan.
Remove panel , and de-ice fan etc until fan rotates freely. Replace and all will be OK.
Otherwise empty and defrost normally but be prepared for a long wait
Don't call an engineer he will just do same. Hope this helps

Samsung SRS583HDP fridge not cooling. Side by side

Most likely the thermostat in the fridge, especially if it read 5 degrees until you reset it. Possibly the compressor in the fridge side as this fridge has twin cooling, or the circulating fan in the back of the fridge is frozen, which is a common problem as well.
Easiest things to try is to see if the fan is frozen and check if the fridge cooling is actually working. Turn off the fridge, remove the shelves, remove the 4 screws that hold in the bottom cover and the 2 screws that hold the water tank in. Cover should then come out a few inches. Reach behind and unplug the 2 plugs and pull out the cover. If the cover doesnt come out easily it may be glued to the back of the fridge by ice. Leave for a couple of hours and gently prize it off. Check for ice around the fan and that the fan spins freely. You could try sitting the cover inside the fridge, plug it in turn it back on for a few minutes (be careful) and then open the door and quickly look / listen to see if the fan is still spinning (it stops when you open the door). Leave the fridge off for a while until the ice disappears off the coils. Turn back on for half an hour. The coils should be icy again. Anything else call Samsung. If the deal in your country is the same as mine the fridge has a 2 year warranty but in the fine print the sealed compressor unit has five years on parts only. You could get the unit replaced for labour costs only. Check your warranty card.

My hotpoint ff187e fridge is not cold, the freezer is working but getting a build up of ice which i have defrosted. tried turning off. when i open the fridge does not feel cold, not sure if the fan is...

we had same problem, apparently there is no such thing as a frost free fridge/freezer, you have to turn your appliance off for at least 3 days because the freezer has a build up of ice which stops the fridge from working, you must leave it switched off for this time otherwise it will just ice up again.

My fridge not cold but freezer working fine

there is a shaft from freezer to fridge that the cold air travels. make sure that is unblocked. also make sure the fan is working. then see if the freezer coils are iced up (this restricts air flow). if they are, unplug it, empty the fridge and freezer, defrost the coils, dry it out, plug it in and turn it on (not high). once it reaches the temp and the compressor stops, fill the fridge again.
