Possible causes and solutions

1 The hard drive within your player has failed, not uncommon and a real pain to fix for all but the real hands on techies. requires replacement hard disk likely same size required.
(unfortunately most likely problem) it will probably be accompanied by an unusual clicking noise coming from the player when held to your ear.

2 The hard drive within your player has become corrupt or something similar and requires formatting. Simple for any IT person to do. I'm no expert on this model and am too lazy to check but even holding down the reset button for 30 seconds or so may fix it.

Good luck hope i helped.

Hi. Every time I turn my Toshiba Satellite Laptop on (A305-S6905) it turns on normal then it goes to this black screen and says "A disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart." I...

The disk read error message appears when the motherboard can't read what is in the hard disk and use it to launch the Windows boot process.
It means that the hard disk is dead and everything on it is lost, including the recovery partition that new laptops use instead of the recovery disks. You will have to replace the hard disk (a quite complicated job that only an experienced person should do) then order a recovery disk from here
https://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/serviceUnitVerification.jsp
and use it to reinstall Windows.

Welcome to Fixya

Looks like the software just hanged-up on you. Try to reset the Ipod by following the procedures below.

1st option:
Turn the Hold switch on, then back to off.
Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for 10 seconds (until the Apple logo appears).
You may need to repeat the reset several times.
If the reset doesn't help, then put the iPod into forced disk mode.

2nd option (Disk Mode):
Plug the iPod into a high-powered USB port, let it sit for 2 hours, then disconnect it. If you have a wall charger, plug in the iPod, then follow these steps while it is still plugged in.
Turn the Hold switch on, then back to off.
Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears
Immediately switch your figures to press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until "Disk Mode" appears at the top.
For a lot of people, this solves the problem. Connect the iPod to the computer and (assuming it shows up) reset the iPod again to get it out of Disk Mode. If at this point you still have the white screen, restore the iPod using the restore function in iTunes under the Summary tab (this will erase everything on the iPod and put it at factory settings).
Note: Do not disconnect or eject the iPod until the store is totally done. After you think it's done, wait another five minutes.

I have toshiba satellite L305d-s5934, Blue screen error appear and hang, when i boot or when i press F2 to enter bios... if i full out the hard disk the computer says: no bootable disk and if i press F2 to...

Sounds like your HDD may have gone bad. What is the name/number of the blue screen error? Google it and see what it means. It may be possible to reinstall the operating system to the original factory settings using the recovery partition (this is usually accessed by tapping F10 or F11 while booting, although I read somewhere that you might be able to gain access to the Toshiba recovery partition by pressing "0" (zero) while the computer is powering on).

You can try to recover the computer to factory settings. If your hard drive has enough life left on it, you might be able to then clone it to a new drive. Drive Image XML is a free software that will do this for you (get that from www.download.com). This way, when you clone the drive, you will also clone the recovery partition, so you don't lose that option. Once you have a new hard drive up and running, use the Toshiba Utility to make System Recovery Disks for the future.

One more thing: If you have recently upgraded/replaced the RAM - this might be your problem. Put the original RAM back in and see if the computer boots. If so, you found the culprit.

My apple 20gb ipod it does'nt work and apple logo appear on screen.i do reset my ipod and after that it turns to normal but after a minute it hang up and apple logo appear.

It sounds like you may need a new hard drive for your iPod. The Apple logo appearing over and over can signify that your iPod cannot communicate with the hard drive where your music is stored.
You can find replacement drives on websites like ebay or by searching Google.
Hope this helps!

My 30 gb ipod video is not working. it displays picture of an ipod with a sad face . Ive read about this & apparently its a hardware issue. can you please help me fix it without going to the apple...

what the previous guy was talking about is the force into disk-mode trick. which works, provided you don't have a broken hard drive(which is my problem) and provided you do all the steps. which is the fatal flaw in the last post.
After holding the center and menu buttons, you immediately switch to the play/pause and center button when you see the apple logo. You'll know you got it right if your screen tells you not to disconnect the cable. Plug it in and restore your ipod using i-tunes. This can sometimes return your ipod to working order.

Format Hard Drive Error

If the unit detects any form of Hard Drive Error it asks you to format the drive. Connect the unit to your PC and run ScanDisk or DOS Chkdsk on the drive. Will help to rectify any issues with the FAT. Windows XP & 2000 Running Check Disk Utility (ChkDsk) ? HARD DRIVE mode only If you still have problems with the file system on your AV 500 you can try to fix it using the DOS utility, check disk (chkdsk). Do the following; ? Make sure external AC adapter is powering the AV 500. ? Quit all running applications. ? Properly connect the AV 500 to your computer ? Wait patiently (up to 5 minutes) for Windows XP to show the local drive as mounted. ? Open a DOS window. Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. ? At the prompt, type chkdsk e: /f . Use e: or f: or whatever drive letter is representing your AV 500. The /f argument tells the program to automatically fix errors. ? Be patient, this may take a while. ? When finished, exit the DOS Window and properly disconnect the AV 500 from your computer. Now try using the device. DO NOT try to defrag the drive. Let us know how you get on.
