    I purchased a 1gb micro sd memory chip. It came with an adapter that plugs right in to my sd.ms/pro.mmc.sm.xd slot but it will not detect the storage device. please help, i want to put music in it for my phone.

    Yeah, I have the same problem... I have just finished live chat trying to solve this issue and come to find out the readers cannot read these cards when they are larger than 1GB

What is the SD MS/Pro MMC XD slot used for?
This is where you would take the sd or xd card out of your digital camera and place it in the slot to download the pictures from the camera to the computer.

Another way of getting pictures from the camera to the computer is that most cameras come with a cable that connects to the camera and the other end to one of the usb ports on the computer. Once you have the cable connected turn the camera on and the computer will recognize the camera as a device. You can then search the camera folders for the pictures you want to put on the computer. This way you don't have to take the sd or xd card out of the camera.

How does the media card reader work on the side of the hp pavilion dv4. It is supposed to allow for a ms/pro but it just kind of falls in. It almost looks like an adapter is supposed to fit in the slot

Will not read my sd-ms/pro-mmc-sm-xd memory stick slot
What OS are you using? First thing would be do a system shutdown and wait a minute or so. Try to see if that fixed it. If not, For Vista: Start > Type Device Manager (once found click on it) > Locate something that has something to do with SD/PRO or any other type of card related thing (Mine is called SD host adapter if that helps) > Click on the + , choose/highlight what is under it (Mine is SDA Standard Compliant Host Controller) > Right click > Disable (Wait a while until your system disable this device.) > With it still highlighted Right Click , Enable It worked for me, I hope this works for you as well.
