I believe you've changed your thermostat, and the original had 5 wires R W G Y C. And your new has 4 wires with no C terminal. The C terminal is used so that batteries are not necessary. If you can't install batteries in the new tstat, get a tstat that has a battery option, or a 5 terminal/wire tsat. Hope this helps!

4 ton Amana -heat comes on sporadic in spring and fall (Every season change) Heat worked through 20 degree weather. Thermostat at 74. Today is 100% humidity and 52 degrees outside and heat won't work. By...

Assuming this is a heat pump I'm guessing you have a bad temp sensor. Your outdoor fan is likely controlled by a temp sensor so it only runs as needed during heating. Fan not coming on and compressor still needs cooled therefore compressor protection kicking in?????

I have a Amana PTAC model PTC123A50AC never had any problems until this a.m. walked into office were installed no heat. Breaker tripped, reset breaker, nothing. Checked outlet, getting power. Any idea's?

To all friends! Whenever you find breaker tripped or fuse blown, it's an indication some device/s are in problem.
To get tripped breaker:
1. Condenser too dusty- clean it.2. Fan motor or compressor grounded-Replace. 3. Compressor high amps due to capacitor weak-replace capacitor. 4. Burnt wire-rectify. 5.Short circuit-rectify.

Where is the reset button on an Amana ASZ14 unit?

I don't think the Amana ASZ14 Heat Pump has a reset switch, but you can still reset it by resetting the power (when it's not running... turn your thermostat OFF first).

To reset the power, locate your circuit breaker box. There should be a double-breaker for the Heat Pump and another double-breaker for the Air Handler. Turn them both off for at least 2-3 minutes. Then flip them back on and turn your thermostat back ON.

You're thermostat may also have a RESET button that you can push. I have to reset mine every time I change the batteries in it.

House wont cool ..tried to reset breaker in fuse box and breaker outside...this unit is only just over a yr old . the fan thing outdoors is not kicking on..

Does this unit have 2 breakers to it? The model you put down is a PTAC and generally just plugs in to the wall so it would have only 1 breaker. If I recall correctly it's got a 5 year warranty on parts so it may be worth it to check with your local HVAC tech and have them do a diagnostic for you. A good place to start would be Amana who can tell you the authorized service company in your area. They'll get the part for free and should roll the diag fee into the repair cost so you'll only pay for labor (if it even needs a part). Their sales and service number is: 1-800-647-2982. Here's a link to your warranty info:

GFCI on refrigerator circuit cuts off.

Yes. Refrigerators should not be on gfci protected circuits. They should have a dedicated 120v circuit .If your kitchen is new enough to be wired with gfci breakers ,it should also have an outlet dedicated for the refrigerator.

My Amana heat pump model PHD60C02F1 Keeps tripping the circuit breaker

Is this kicking the ground fault on the cord or the breaker. If it trips breaker could be bad breaker. If it trips quickly it is a short in the unit. Russ

Blower motor runs but dies out..

When it does this carefully feel the end of the blower motor. If it is too hot to touch,Replace the blower motor.
Your 5 minute off sequence allows the motor to cool enough for a restart.
