SOURCE: how much gear oil 72'' tiller

In Gearboxes use gear oil (type GL5-85W 140 or Triple Zero
Grease; which can be poured, and has "EP" i.e. "Extreme Pressure" additives.) Fill the gearbox to approximately half-full level.

SOURCE: mtd rear tines tiller won't engage tines. F and R

I had similar problem recently with 2007 Huskee MTD series 410. The shift assembly bent and couldn't move the clutch collar all the way over on the drive shaft.

SOURCE: tiller tines won't turn where put in gear.

The spring goes in first followed by the ball. The ball should not get in the key way because that is filled by the slider pins that go up into the spur gear that drives the tines. Actually the slider pins drive all of the gears by engaging different gears as the gear collar is moved up and down. The detent spring and ball is the mechanism that is supposed to hold the the clutch collar in place. Mine jumps out of gear when tilling any depth except very shallow. I have reinforced the shifting forks and replaced the pins on the end of it. I believe that the pins wear and the arms spread because i have to keep pressure on the shifting rod or it will jump out of gear when tilling. Even with the reinforcing, pressure on the shifting rod will wear out the pins on the shifting arm. This will be my 3rd reassembly and I am leaning toward the detent spring being weak and allowing the shifting collar to move too easily. I may order an new spring and ball and see if that helps. I am getting pretty good at taking it apart.

King Kutter 6ft tiller. It hit a metal fence post. The tiller will not turn, bogs down tractor. Where do I start?

You checked for a piece of post or rock stuck in the tines?

You should be able to turn the PTO shaft by hand. Suggest you disconnect the PTO shaft from the tractor and make sure the problem is the tiller.

The tiller end of the pto shaft has both a slip clutch and a shear pin to protect the gear box and tine shaft drive gear. See attachment.

If you are unable to turn the PTO shaft by hand with it disconnected from the tractor then likely there is something jambed in the tines or internal damage to the gear box or tine shaft gear drive.

Parts diagrams are in the owners manual. Manuals are free download at https://www.kingkutter.com/manuals4_14_2023_11_23_17_pm.jpg

The end of July we purchased a 4 foot tiller from Wilco Farm store. After using it about 6 times, the shaft broke completely off. What is the warranty or ? on this?

most warranty on tillers is 1 to 2 years depending on the brande, also it must be a MF defect. if the shaft broken for improper uses you may have a problem. warranty service centers well know what happened and how it broke. call your 800 number in your book also it gives you your warranty info there to.
