Please allow me to explain it in a non technical way. if you wish to have it in a technical way please visit the ref site below.
these are computer grades(platforms) that differentiates computer speeds. 32-bit computer takes 32bits of data each round it transfers. 64- bit takes 64bits of data each round.hence 32-bit trasfers twice the same data that 64-bit transfers once.therefore a 64-bit computer remains faster than 32-bit.

Simple answer. 64 bit allows you to use more than 4 gb RAM and sees it all. 32 bit will only recognize a little over 3 GB RAM so if you have more it is basically reserved for Windows itself. 64 bit does allow better use of system resources as well. But in order to run 64 bit you need a cpu that is compatible. Most of the newer dual core cpu's as well as all quad core cpu's can run Windows 64 bit. Hope this helps explain it a little better for you.

The terms 32-bit and 64-bit refer to the way a computer's processor (also called a CPU), handles information. The 64-bit version of Windows handles large amounts of random access memory (RAM) more effectively than a 32-bit system. For more details, go to A description of the differences between 32-bit versions of Windows Vista and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista online.

What should i download to get 32bit operating system software

What is the difference between 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows?
The terms 32-bit and 64-bit refer to the way a computer's processor (also called a CPU), handles information.

The 64-bit version of Windows handles large amounts of random access memory (RAM) more effectively than a 32-bit system. How can I tell if my computer is running a 32-bit or a 64-bit version of Windows?

To find out if your computer is running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows in Windows 7 or Windows Vista, do the following:

1. Open System by clicking the Start button , right-clicking Computer, and then clicking Properties.

2. Under System, you can view the system type.

If your computer is running Windows XP, do the following:

1. Click Start.

2. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

If you don't see "x64 Edition" listed, then you're running the 32-bit version of Windows XP.

If "x64 Edition" is listed under System, you're running the 64-bit version of Windows XP.

The printer is installed in windows 7 but cannot run software to install toolbox. got it to work but does not recognise printer.

windows 7 has two different versions on the format side and that is 64/32

Now if your running 64 bit chances are is your printer does not like the driver that came with it so you need to find a 64 bit driver or downgrade to 32 bit windows 7 operating system.

If windows is not recognizing the printer is there you may need to download a updated driver for the printer before it will work correctly.

let us know what version of windows 7 64/32?

your make and model printer?

Thanks

Cannot use Lexmark X4850 printer without installation disc.

Hi,

You should be able to go to the lexmark.com web site and search for your printer. Go to downloads and enter your printer description or X4850. This is the result I got. If your computer is running Windows, then you need to get either the download for 32 bit or 64 bit software. See microsoft.com link to tell the difference.

Differences

Hi delta force,

The terms 32-bit and 64-bit refer to the way a computer's processor (also called a CPU), handles information. The 64-bit version of Windows handles large amounts of random access memory (RAM) more effectively than a 32-bit system. For gaming, you need to view the system requirements on each game to determine if the software is compatible with 64bit. Not all games will work on a 64 bit processor. Some of the newer more graphic games are compatible with 64bit, but I'd check before you purchase. Also, when you purchase a 64 bit processor machine, you'll find that not all your old software will run under it. You may have some problems and will need to upgrade those versions to thier 64 bit version software, (if available). It's great when it works!

Good Luck and don't forget to leave a rating,

Thanks Mark

Vista 32 Bit verses 64 Bit

Before you jump in and upgrade make sure your computer system is 64 bit ready otherwise it wont work at all....upgrading memory is never a bad thing will actually speed up things from running and will have a better response time....windows 7 does not require 64 bit but it desired if possible....

Are they the same - windows vista 32 bit platform edition and windows vista home basic 32 bit sp1

Yes and no. Think of 'platform' as a general header when looking at operating architectures (there are different types) and Vista choices.
Vista choices under the 'platform' 32-bit are:
• Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit
• Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
• Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit
• Windows Vista Business 32-bit
• Windows Vista Enterprise 32-bit

Another example of the "64-bit platform" and Vista choices are:

• Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit Edition
• Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Edition
• Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit Edition
• Windows Vista Business 64-bit Edition
• Windows Vista Enterprise 64-bit Edition
