Wrong Richard-sorry- but had this issue. Check filter light would come on and I ignored it (after checking for built up lint) and now the dryer wont start. I pulled everything apart and it seems I had a duct loose inside letting all the lint inside the dryer. It was a warning I ignored.
I opened the back of the dryer and looked inside. There was a hose that goes from where you check the lint trap and runs along to the outer area of the dryer-then you send it out your wall. The hose from the lint trap came loose and it was just blowing all the moisture and dust inside my dryer. I cleaned it all out. Reattached the hose. And let everything dry out for a day or so. It has worked perfectly since then and that was over 6 months ago.I opened the back of the dryer and looked inside. Try taking out the lint screen and scrubbing it well in the sink with hot water and a brush. If you havent cleaned out below the lint screen, get a vacuum and a crevice tool and remove any standing lint as well as cleaning the vent. Bosch lint screens clog easily especially if you are a big fabric softener user.
We had the same problem as many here have described. After cleaning out the vent system with compressed air and a vacuum cleaner, the appliance still failed to start. I unplugged the unit for a few minutes, turned it back on and it still failed to start. I turned the rotary dial to "SHORT" pressed start and it worked!!!! Not sure if thats the magic sequence or i just got lucky but Good luck.
I have the exact same problem. I am amazed at had been the engineering is for such a simple process. The user guide just says to clean the lint filter. Even when doing so, there is still an excessive build up of lint beyond reach. There are no instructions that mention how to clean this part. It is obvious that GE did not test this part of the machine.
check for wires near lint filter casing. these are the lint filter sensors, they could be defective that is why it always indicate a clean lint filter alarm,
cleaned the lint off the screen but check filter light is still flashing.
