Well i have a new internet modem from mediacom and it works when its directly to the computer but when i plug it through the router the internet wont work. what do i do?
Routers job are to interpret outside world into your own world.
Linksys Wizard will guide you step by step on how to figure out who is connected to what and where.
At the back of the Linksys Router, there is a small white button if not black, in order for any end-user to reset it back to Factory Default. The purpose of Factory Default is to give you a chance to start from scratch!!!
Press that button for the next 30 seconds while unplugging its power cord. After such time, you will need to plug the power cord back on and your will be ale to Re-run your Wizard to confogure your router.
By the way, Linksys routers comes with a CD in order for you to make your life easy. Have that CD ready and install in your local computer.
I hope this helps. I can't give you play by play instructions on the wizard because I don't have one.
The modem looks like a cable modem from what I have found. You should press the small reset button on the back of the router for about 3 seconds and it should go back to factory settings. Connect the router to the modem and unplug power to the modem, then power it back on and the modem should recognize the router. If this works make sure to login to the router and set passwords and security to something other then the defaults. The Linksys routers usually are addressed at 192.168.1.1 with a default username blank and password of admin. Good Luck
