Get a stick or something and stick in one or the other tank. Diesel will smell like diesel and look oily. and the water side will seem watery not oily.

Put diesel into my radiator did not run before drained it flushed it and refilled with new coolant but can still smell diesel when remove radiator cap! can suction it off the top?

Drain your system again, fill with plain water and a radiator flush agent such as STP, Gunk, or Prestone. Run the engine up to temperature to make certain the coolant passes through the engine thermostat. After the radiator is cool again, drains the water & refill with water/anti-freeze mix. If you try to skim off the diesel, it'll take you a very long time to get it all out, and you may possibly never get the smell of diesel out of your radiator.

Accidentally put diesel fuel into my john deere 4020 radiator how do I separate the fuel from the antifreeze inside the radiator?

Hi Angela:
Accidents happen. PITA!

- Diesel fuel will float on water, so if you have the ability to dip a chunk of spill kit absorbent into the top of the radiator, it should "wick" the majority of it off the surface.
- If there is a radiator overflow reservoir I would make sure that it is about 1/3 full. That way when it draws coolant back into the radiator it will not be getting any residual diesel. Once the engine has fully cooled and let stand overnight, there may be a small amount of diesel present when you remove the radiator cap. Use the absorbent wick to capture as much as possible.
- I would not personally worry about the bit of diesel that remains in the engine and radiator after you have done that.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

Water is constantly getting into my diesel. There are no leaks in the diesel tank. Can you suggest where the water is coming from

I'd bet your tank Cap seal is not good. Lots of rain? And or moisture is condensing inside the tank. Another thing to check is the fuel return line from the injection pump to the tank is properly sealed. Water in injection system is deadly especially to the pump. So find the problem soon. you may want to put "fuel dryer" (methanol) to remove any residual water. Oh, Did you stop along the way? Is the cap locked? Or lid locked. With that much water you may have had some vandalism. Any enemies?

My massy tractor runs with the rotor button off and the distributor cap hanging beside the motor,,,,,when it is put back the motor will not start ??????????

the only thing I can figure is some one put a transistor kit in your distributor however you would still need the cap on and the rotor working. Don't think it would run with no spark to the plugs, with the exception of the old farmalls that ran on gas and then switched over to fuel oil, they ran on compression like a diesel !

It turned out my son put a diesel gas according to the technician. Around how much is the cost do you think?

well you need to drain all diesel fuel, install a new fuel pump and filter, clean injectors, get it running and go from there, fix any code the comes on, one think.... fuel tank or fuel cell called also a bladder may need to be replace if collapsed due to diesel caracteristics, the longer you wait the more damage, hope you did not drain EV battery down to zero charge, it takes an special charger only available at your dealer by request to Toyota head quarters

My nephew has put diesel in the wrong tank on our mower!

Hi!

No big deal:) easy to fix that problem! you engine isent damaged in any way.

Just remove the diesel from the tank, make sure all diesel is out.
Fill the tank up with the fuel it takes, restart it. It might take a moment for it to start, but it will start sooner or later, dont give up, it need to get all the diesel out from the tube and that can take a couple of minits.

Good luck
