I have a Lenovo IdeaCenter computer. I need the Pin Designation for the front panel connections. K300 Motherboard. Want to move motherboard to a new case. No markings on motherboard where to connect

I believe the motherboard is a K300. The computer is a Lenovo IdeaCenter Machine type 53162HU. Circa 2012

The front panel connector pinout is on page 2-33, or page 59 in the PDF file. You should have mor ethan enough information to make all the connections you need.

I found the Motherboard Manual for it. It comes as a Zip file.
At first my zip extractor seemed to have problems with it. Unzipped it anyway.
Comes as 8 small files. (Sheesh!)
I'll give you the link to the download website. I'll also tell you how to connect up the Front Panel header, just in case you have problems unzipping the files like I did!

Download website for the Motherboard Manual for the Chaintech 9JBA.

Scroll down the list on the left. In blue it's -> 9jba0 <- (No, I don't know what the zero is for)
Takes you to another page. Under -> Filename, click on -> 9jba0.exe <- It's 4624KB in size.
(That's about 4.6MB's. Not very big)

It will ask "Do you want to save this file?" Click on Save.
Then the Extraction Wizard will come up. Click on unzip.

If you don't have your downloads going to your My Documents folder, it will pop up these 8 files on your desktop. They're PDF files, and you have Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer, so it will open these files.

Now, in case you can't download these.

Not to offend, but the manual is a piece of junk. Good thing I've got years of experience with computer motherboards, and reading crappy motherboard manuals.
Hardware setup is in file -> 9bja0-2.pdf (By the way. You can enter the CMOS Setup utility by pressing the Delete key, right after the Chaintech 'splash screen'. { Logo screen)

I am looking at file -> 9bja0-1.pdf now.
I had to expand the PDF file by 800% to see the Front Panel Header. IT IS ->16 pins. 2 x 8

Orient the motherboard, so we're on the 'same page'. Processor is up towards the top, expansion slots, (PCI) are to the left. The Front Panel header is down to the very bottom right corner.
It has -> FTP under it. To the left of it is another header. It has Smark Card under it. (No I didn't misspell it. That's what the mobo manual states) Do Not connect anything to the pins in the Smark Card area.

The Front panel header going lengthwise, there are 7 pins on top, 8 on bottom. Across the top there are 3 pins, NO pin, then 4 more pins.

Pin 1 is on the Bottom all the way to the Left. It doesn't state if it goes Pin 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15,
for the Bottom row of pins, or 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.

I'm going to number the pins across the Top as Pins, 2, 4, 6, NO Pin, 10, 12, 14, and 16.
Bottom row of pins is Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15.

Top Row
Pins 2, 4, and 6 are for the Power On LED light. The Positive attaches to Pin 2.

There is No Pin 8.
Pins 10 and 12 are for the Green Power switch. Suggest you DON'T connect anything here.

Pins 14 and 16 are for the Override Power Button. Suggest you DON'T connect anything here.

Bottom Row
Pins 1, 3, 5, and 7 are for the internal speaker. Pin 1 is for the Positive connection.

Pins 9 and 11 are for the Power On switch.

Pins 13, and 15 are for the HarDDrive activity light. Pin 13 is for the Positive wire.

This Chaintech motherboard uses Pentium 4 processors, that use a Socket 478. The processor FSB is 400MHz. (You can't use P4's with a 533MHz FSB, nor ones that use a 800MHz FSB. Go to Wikipedia.org
In Wikipedia's search bar, type -> List of Intel Pentium 4 Microprocessors <-
Look through it, and you'll see P4's that use the Socket 478, and have a 400MHz Front Side Bus)

Has the Intel i845 Northbridge chip, and the ICH2 Southbridge chip. This is the 'motherboard chipset'.
Actual name is Northbridge/Southbridge chipset.

Has 3 ram slots. Maximum TOTAL Amount of ram is 3GB. Maximum Amount for EACH ram slot is 1GB. Uses PC133 ram. (SDR Sdram. Commonly just known as Sdram. ALL ram from Single Data Rate Sdram up to DDR3 Sdram, IS Sdram. That's why just stating just ->Sdram is a misnomer!)
Has to be Low Density ram, and Non-ECC.

The AGP graphics slot is a Universal AGP slot. BUT, it only uses AGP 2X or AGP 4X graphics cards.
They must be able to turn down to 1.5 volts. Using a 3.3 volt AGP graphics card, will result in System Boot up failure, malfunction, etc.

Uses IDE harddrives. (IDE is also referred to as EIDE, ATA, and PATA)
It's an ATX form factor motherboard.

In your another case, there should be connectors for front usb and audio, what it goes for should be printed in on the connector.
Basicly this can not be connected wrong.

Replacing the motherboard

Buy a new case. Even though you can get quite a number of motherboards to fit. You will never get the front panel connections on the new motherboard to match up with the custom front panel wires on the Lenovo case.

This photo also shows the orientation (Direction), that the motherboard is sitting in a computer case.

To the very bottom right is the Front Panel header.

The front plastic panel of the computer is the Front Panel.

The area of pins on the motherboard that the cables, (Wires) from the Front Panel connect to, is the Front Panel header. ( F_PANEL )

The Front Panel header, is the black rectangular shaped plastic block, that is sitting vertically on the motherboard.

Has two columns of pins.
4 on the left side, 5 on the right side. Makes it look as though there is a pin missing, at the top left corner.

I'm going to number the pins.

Pins on the Left side starting at the Top, going down;

Pins 1, 3, 5, and 7.

Pins on the Right side starting at the Top, going down,

Pins 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10.


A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the Power On switch. (Power On button)

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for the Power On LED light.
Pin 7 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
(If the LED light is dim, reverse the wires around)

C) Pins 4 and 6 are for a Reset switch, IF a Reset switch is used. (Reset button)

D) Pins 8 and 10 are for the HarDDrive activity LED light.
Pin 10 is for the Positive wire. ( + )
(If the HDD LED light is dim when operating, switch the wires around)

Pin 2 at the top Right is NOT used. (NC. Not Connected)

I have an Asus P4P800MX/S motherboard I got on Ebay. It came with no manual. The front panel connector is a 10 pin connection on the motherboard but the manuals I got from Asus state they are all a 20 pin...

Page 38 is the front panel 20 pin connectors; if you have a 10 pin, you don't have that model. I would search the manual I linked to for the motherboard picture so you can determine what the 10 pin really is.

The Power On switch is located inside the plastic Power On button assembly.

It is a Momentary Contact Switch, and is named an ATX power on switch.

The plastic front panel of a desktop computer is the Front Panel.

Tell me the manufacturer name, and Model Number of the computer, or tell me the manufacturer name, and Model Number of the motherboard, and let me see if I can find a Pinout for it's Front Panel header.

Open up your case.
You should see cables running from the front panel to the motherboard. On the motherboard you will see a multi-pin connector. What is your exact ASUS motherboard model? Here's a generic ASUS one. You will see this on the motherboard where the front panel connects to the board. A bunch of pins will terminate here.

Notice the pin labelled MIC. You will see GND etched on the motherboard. Use this to orient yourself. The Mic one is just below the GND pin. Connect it here. Notice the entire top row is devoted to FP_Audio or Front panel Audio. There are other places to connect it (e.g., if you just want stereo sound, there's a left and right FP_R and FP_L).

Move the mic connector over to the Mic pin if there is one. If not, you can get a cable at your local computer supply shop. As you can tell from the others, they are very basic wires with simple terminals.

open your computer cover and and see the motherboard front panel connectors. a use of screw driver touch any two front panel connectors if any led or switch working this condition you can note this and connect successfully. one by one touch all penal connections and u will be solve ur problem thanks mukesh kumar
