I can not photocopy from an original. All cleaning of machine has been done and all ink is full. What could my problem be? and how can I fix this?
Thanks
Hello, I am trying just to photocopy with the printer. So basically I have placed my information on the clear glass top and press copy, then press black and white and nothing copies.
I have also tried the same process with pressing copy, then the color, this works better however the copy is still grainy and the colour is not totally accurate.

A user default
1.The printer is possibly not designed to perform in color copying through the machine feeder area, only on the photograhic image scan area. Discontinue scanning the image in feed area.
A Technical default
1. The device is nearly out of ink
2. The device printing bands are clogged requires cleaning
A printing material defect
1. The positioning of the medium to be photocopied only achieves success when layed flat on the screen. Possible images are likely when lightening does not escpe in the process.
Consider, using an alternative copy machine that would achieve success.
Hi, by refilling the ink crg. you probably destroy head electronics. Buy new one ORIGINAL, and try then.If you must refill ink be carefull, rather buy new reffiled ink, where the chip is resetted.
Color printer have sofware installed which stops all printing inless their is ink in all containers. No, their is no way around it. Someone would be rich making a kit to do so. since I see this question over and over at least once a week.
your printer cartridge or head unit ink channel (some of color or black ink channel) constipated, you may try:
1) if your ink cartridge is not new, take out the cartridge put the bottom surface touch cleaner liquid(special for ink printer) or water for 1 hr (you can see ink spread water), then set back and test. refill enough ink maybe necessary.
2) still trouble, you need clean print head ink channel to do same thing above, if your print head is separated from the cartridge.
When done so make sure all other carts are at full level: Press
menu then start b/k copy then fourtimes arrow up (tel.index). Machine
will be in maintenance mode. press 7 then 6 then 4 then start b/k copy.
Machine will refresh ink within tubes and print head and do some power
cleaning. when finished press 7 then 6 then 3 then start bk copy to run
an extra power purge. Leave maintenance by pressing 9 then 9.
Do run a quality test print.
If you re lucky the it will work again.
THERE IS NO WAY TO CLEAN THE PH OUTSIDE EXCEPT BY Power Purge (7-6-3) within maintenance mode.
If
you like to save money refill ORIGINAL Carts by drilling a 2mm hole
into the top (O of brother brandname) . You can leave the hole open to
refill the cart next time directly without taking it out of the printer.
Mix some 3ml 85%-glycerin alc (drugstore) with 3ml of distilled water and 5 ml of DYE(!) ink and refill the c/y/m cart.
For bk mix 1 ml glycerin alc with 4ml dest. water and 15 ml bk DYE ink (shake well before refill).
This is -nearly- the exact mixture of original brother ink.

I bet you are using non genuine ink, the MP780 will not put up with that ink, you will need a new printhead and maybe a purge unit.
Take the machine to your ink supplier and get him to fix it as he supplied the ink
