Cannon Powershot A-620 black screen can't review

I own a cannon powershot A 620 camera. When I turn it on the screen is black. The shutter opens. I've changed the batteries. I can point the camera at an object and take a picture while the screen remains black. I put the card in a different camera and the A620 is taking pictures but you can't see anything on the screen.

Did you accidentally press the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera? This manually turns the screen on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder to take pictures. To turn the screen back on, just press this button one more time.

I have A2200 cannon powershot camera but the flash is not working

You can Google your camera make/model and open the link to download your user manual in a PDF. I did this and picked the one below. Under the Table of Contents, pick Turning off the flash. The instructions to turn it on are there as well.
Hope this helps. Mike

I have a Cannon PowerShot S2 IS digital camera, about 5 years old. The LCD Monitor and Viewfinder both only show a black screen with some of the Dispay Icons across the top and bottom, and after a few...

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

Hi, I have a Cannon Powershot A610 and when I take a picture the picture comes out too dark. How can I adjust the it? thanks

"Too dark" or do you really mean "totally black"? I'm asking because a stuck shutter is a very common failure mode for your particular model camera.

The screan is black i can take picturs fine and record but i when i go take a pic the screen is black until i review the pic. Its not the shutters because the screen isnt black when i have it on video...

Hi,

The black screen problem means the lens sensor is spoiled due to over exposure to heat. Its better to give it to cannon service centre. If your camera is under warranty period its well and good they will replace the lens sensor for free of cost.

Thank you

Screen is black on camera Cannon PowerShot SD750

Am assuming that you've already tried pressing the DISP button, and that didn't fix it. Have you tried downloading the photos since this occurred? Are they also black? If so, then you're likely experiencing a stuck shutter.

I'M PLANNING TO BUY A CANON SD950 DO YOU THING BY BUYING A MEMORY EXTREME 111 4 GB IS GOOD?.

I have owned several Cannon brand cameras (not this particular model) and have always been very happy with them. I would support the purchase of any Cannon product.

cnet gives this camera a good review.
