Not knowing the make & model of the machine limits out ability to help. What is Step 4? When threading the top thread, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot. Verify that the thread path is correct--mis-threading is a frequent cause of broken thread.

Why does thread 1 keep breaking? Janome MyLock 644D

Normally incorrect threading, or incorrect tension. First you have to get the bobbin tension correct, and then move to threading and top tension. If bobbin tension is too tight, you are increasing top tension beyond the capabilities of the thread. It may also be that the spool of thread is faulty. What happens if you use button thread?

Elna Pro 4De serger thread breaking

Be sure to thread each in the ORDER specified--for most machines (but yours may differ) upper looper, lower looper, then needles. Follow (closely) the threading diagram on the machine. Missing one guide or hitting the guides out of order will throw you machine into a tizzy! On my serger, the lower looper has to lay over the top of the upper looper/thread before it all gets pulled under the presser foot toward the back of the machine.

It also may help to RAISE the presser foot when threading the machine.

Why the thread cracked with when i sticked with the machine

Thread breakage could occur for several reasons.

First, try a brand new needle.

Second, use only good quality thread--NOT old thread or bargain bin varieties.

Third, when threading the upper thread, be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot throughout the threading process.

Verify that the thread path is correct (consult the owner's manual). Incorrect threading will usually break the thread.

Check that the upper thread tension is set at the midway point between the high & low numbers.

When threading machine, thread won't stay in place at step 4, so when I move thread to step 5, thread comes away. Only bought mchine in March.

When threading the upper thread, be sure to always raise the presser foot. This releases the tension disk and allows the thread to seat properly.

When i start to sew, my thread gets caught up on bobbin. the string gets wrapped around the bobbin then breaks the thread. it seems as though the bobbin is sitting a hair too high. ? ? ?

Make sure there is no fluff/lint within the bobbin case causing the bobbin to stand proud. Pressure from the bobbin thread can sometimes stretch the bobbin itself.. replace the bobbin with a brand new one. Double check your threading be removing all thread and starting from scratch.
