Perhaps your Sony PC is just getting too Old.
Good Luck
Hi, You can only upgrade the memory to 1GB in that model Vaio laptop.
The memory supported is DDR SDRAM which runs at 333MHz. There are 2 memory slots which support 1x512 module in each slot. I recommend Kingston RAM as the manufacturer.
As for the HDD the laptop supports EIDE (IDE/ATA) hard drive. you can have anything up to 320GB. Seagate are excellent drives as well as Fujitsu.
You can use 20/40 Gb hard drives. the BIOS may be too old to support the 60/80Gb hard drive.
The only problem is, that it is impossible to purchase new hard drives of these capacities, the smallest capacity available now are 120Gb and larger.
You may be able to get 2nd hand drivers, but you won't not know how long they will work until they fail, probably doesn't matter, they should be cheap.
I think it maybe mounted through to top of your laptop under the keyboard, for instructions on how to remove keyboard and sometimes the HDD is held in a carrier.
