42y6492 front panel connection

This is a motherboard originally for an IBM Lenovo ThinkCentre A55
I found a manual on:
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/41x5664.pdf
page 43 gives a lay-out overview which connectors need to be attached to the front panel: 12 and 17.
12 are 2 USB 4-pin connectors and 17 is on the picture I found a black plastic block with a special connector next to the CMOS battery.

You might consider connecting simple pins from connector 14, if that is easier for your casing.

The front panel connector ( F panel) looks like this:

This is located in the down right corner.

The usb connectors look like this:

In your another case, there should be connectors for front usb and audio, what it goes for should be printed in on the connector.
Basicly this can not be connected wrong.

Replacing the motherboard

Buy a new case. Even though you can get quite a number of motherboards to fit. You will never get the front panel connections on the new motherboard to match up with the custom front panel wires on the Lenovo case.

The wire placement is usually written small right on the motherboard. Each front panel connector should be labeled.
