I'm also having the same problem with my Pentax ME - new battery, no LED lights at all for the light meter. I've changed lenses to make sure it isn't that - although they are connected in anyway. I spent quite a bit of time cleaning the camera as it hasn't been used in a while, replaced all batteries, nothing helped. Any suggestions?

I have a pentax super program camera approx. 20 years old. Just recently the light meter doesn't work. I've replaced the batteries and I've done the pencil eraser bit in the battery cover but still nothing. I took it into a repair shop and they said that it looks like it's a circuit problem they weren't going to touch it and please come and pick it up and have a nice day. I've looked in the battery chamber but I see no wires.

I have a pentax super program approx. 20 years old. My light meter just stopped working. I've replaced the batteries, cleaned the battery compartment with a pencil eraser. Looked for any wires attached or loose. I took it into a repair shop. They said it looked like a circuit problem. They weren't/aren't going to even try and repair. Please come and get it and oh, have a nice day.

I have a similar problem with my Pentax MG, but the LED is always red, at the top of the scale next to "over." It's there no matter what Fstop I use. I'm wondering if the shutter speed even changes in auto mode.

Easy solution : remove battery cover and clean inside the battery chamber AND the battery cap/cover itself ( use pencil erasor or anything slightly abrasive )
More demanding solution : remove top cover and locate red wire on the left hand side of the circuit board ( impossible to miss; the wire brings power from battery chamber to the main board ) and resolder ( dry joint ) . You should also actually measure whether you are getting 3V through this wire ( one connection to the contact and the other to the body of the camera ). If you are still not getting anything out from the battery chamber the red wire needs replacing.

There are several problems under this post. Not all are the same.

The posters problem is most likely due to the contacts which turn the metering circuit on. These need re-adjusting. Theres' a screw an a cam inside.

To leans how to dismantle the camera to access this part there is a camera repair website which deals with these cameras in detail. The author also can service these cameras at a very competetive price.

Pentax Optio E20 will not turn on.

The green light only means the memory card is getting power. That nothing else comes on indicates a serious problem that requires a trip to your local camera shop for help.

Our flashlight stop working even with a brand new battery

The bulb may be blown. If the bulb is ok then you may have a broken wire, corroded connections or a bad switch.

Suddenly stopped working, not charging.

it is possible that the bluetooth connection being cut midcall to have froze the bluetooth headsed, one thing you should try is to power it up in connection mode and see if it works, there are different combinations of buttons, assuming you have power and volume buttons to do a hard reset to it... otherwise i think you should take it where you bought it and ask for solution even if warranty period is over because it simply isn't normal what happened.

best of wishes and hope i helped. good luck

Light meter

Yes, the Pentax ME Super has a built-in light meter. It is used by the ME Super in order to determine the correct exposure settings when the camera is used in the "A" (Autoexposure) & "AV" (Aperture-priority) exposure modes.

I don't mean to insult you, but have you tried new batteries?

Sometimes the meter fails when the batteries don't have enough juice.

Take care & Happy Imaging!

LED Power light turns on, but nothing happens

If you've only had it 6 months then I would suggest you contact the manufacturer for a warranty replacement. Their warranty period is 1 year so see what they can do.

Pentax Super ME

Yes, the ME super has an electronic shutter that works in conjunction with the LEDs. Purchase some fresh S76 button cells, A76 will work, but the will not last as long. Make sure the battery cover is corrosion free and install the batteries so both cells face positive toward the cover.

My Pentax Camera Light Meter is not registering changes made to the Aperture Ring.

Take lens off to check the lens/light-meter coupler situated inside the lens mount at the top part of the mount at 'one o'clock' . First see if it moves freely ,clock wise. Then -with the lens off- look through the view finder while you activate the coupler : moving it should make the l.meter lights move up and down.
If you are not getting any joy the connection between the coupler and the board needs re-soldering ( dry joints ) : remove top cover and resolder two blue wires on left hand side of the board . This should do the trick.
