It is very easy to open the printer.First you need to remove the screws at the back. Then slowly remove the white panels which is fixed at the left and right sides. You should be very careful doing so,because there is no screws instead of that only plastic locks. Then you can remove the top cover. The total plastic panel you can remove only removing the two screws.Best of luck

Cartridges error on a lexmark

Error: "Invalid Toner Cartridge"; Error: "Invalid Refill"; Message: "Change Cartridge"
Solution
One of these error messages may appear on the printer display immediately after or shortly after a new toner cartridge is installed into the printer. Note: This may not be specifically a toner cartridge problem; the error may be due to a stuck cover open switch on the printer.

To see if the cover open switch is the cause of this problem, open the top front cover and observe the message on the printer's display panel. The display should read Close Door or Insert Cartridge.

If this message is not displayed, the top cover open sensor and switch will need to be replaced. In addition, the printer may have damaged the new toner cartridge. If the cover open sensor is not operating properly, a new cartridge can be incorrectly flagged as a refilled cartridge by the printer. If this happens, the new cartridge will continue to cause an Invalid Refill or Invalid Cartridge error even if you try reinstalling it or installing it into another printer. If this should occur, please contact the point of purchase of the cartridge to find out how to get the cartridge replaced.

Caution: If the cover open sensor is not operating, do not install another new toner cartridge until you have completed the directions below. Inserting another new cartridge can cause that cartridge to stop working as well. Should this situation arise, please take the following actions:

Place the original working cartridge (the empty or near-empty one) back into the printer. This should clear the error message.

Turn the printer off. Doing this will disengage the cover open sensor.

With the printer switched off, open the top lid and remove the old toner cartridge.

Now replace the old cartridge with another new Lexmark toner cartridge.

Power the printer back on. The printer should now read this cartridge as a newly installed toner cartridge and the error should be cleared. The printer and toner cartridge should function properly now, but the top cover sensor on the printer will still need to be replaced.

If your printer is still under warranty or covered under a service contract, please contact Lexmark Technical Support or your service provider for further recommendations and instructions. Until you can get the cover open switch replaced, remember to have the printer powered off whenever you replace the toner cartridge.

If the top cover switch appears to be working fine, or if you have followed the above steps and your printer continues to post an Invalid Toner Cartridge or Invalid Refill error, make sure you are using a new original Lexmark toner cartridge. A toner cartridge remanufactured or refilled by a third party can cause this error.

To help identify a refilled cartridge, look for the yellow label attached to the toner drum and the body of the toner cartridge. If this is damaged or removed, the cartridge may have been refilled.

If you are using a third-party refilled or remanufactured toner cartridge, it is recommended that you install a new Lexmark brand toner cartridge. Lexmark cannot guarantee the compatibility of any third-party toner cartridges with our printers.

OR

1 Switch on the Lexmark X83 printer.

2 Lift open the cartridge door at the front of the device, below the scanner unit. The printer automatically moves the cartridge carrier to the correct position.

3 Pull each ink cartridge toward you to unclasp it from the carrier. Lift the cartridge out of the cartridge carrier.

4 Clean the copper contacts on the bottom of each cartridge with a clean, dry lint-free cloth. Use a gentle, circular motion to clean the contacts.

5 Insert the ink cartridges back into the cartridge carrier. Push back firmly on each cartridge until it snaps into place.

6 Repeat each step in this procedure again. Close the cartridge door.

How to change toner in laserjet printers

First Turn the printer's power off. Some power button is located on the control panel on the top of the printer, on the right side. Open the printer's top cover by pressing the top cover lever, which is located on the bottom side of the top cover. Lift the cover all of the way open. Locate the toner cartridge. It will be right in the center of the printer and has a handle on the top of it. Grab the handle and pull the cartridge out. Hold the replacement cartridge at its side and gently rock it back and forth. This will help to distribute the toner equally throughout the cartridge.Remove the paper cover from the top of the cartridge.Insert the replacement cartridge into the printer and close the printer's top cover.

80005964en_i05rt03024_03.gif
3. Take a new toner cartridge out of the protective bag. As there is a notch cut near the arrow, you can tear open the bag by hand. However, if you are unable to tear open the bag by hand, use scissors to open the protective bag so as not to damage the toner cartridge.
80005964en_i05rt02032_03.gif
Important: a. Keep the protective bag for the toner cartridge. It will be required after taking out the toner cartridge for printer maintenance. b. Print quality may deteriorate if you touch or damage the drum inside the drum cartridge. Be sure not to touch or open the drum protective shutter (A). Be careful not to hold or touch sensitive areas that are not specified in this procedure. This may result in damage to the cartridge.
80005964en_i05rt02029_03.gif
c. Do not expose the toner cartridge to direct sunlight or strong light.
80005964en_i05rt02032_04.gif

If you do not shake the cartridge gently, toner may spill out. c. Be careful not to hold or touch sensitive areas such as the electrical contacts (A) or sensor, as this may result in damage to the toner cartridge or printer.
80005964en_i05rt02032_06.gif

How does one replace the toner cartridge on the hl 2040 printer

Open the front cover (it tilts down from the top). Pull out the drum and toner cartridge assembly. Place this on newspaper or something that can be disposed of later to contain any spilled toner. Do not touch the electrodes on the unit. Push down on the blue lock lever to release the toner cartridge and slide it out (push slightly down and then lift up) of the drum. Place the old toner in a bag for disposal to contain the remaining toner. Open the package for the new toner cartridge and hold it level. Gently rock the cartridge from side to side to get the toner evenly distributed. Pull off the protective cover and slide it into the drum until it locks into place (the blue lever will return to the original position). Slide the blue tab from left to right and back several times to clean the corona wire then return the tab to the home position (marked by an up arrow).

Slide the drum assembly back into the printer and close the front cover.

I hope this helps.

We have been sent a toner cartridge for our ir3300 but despite directions on the side of the box it does not appear to fit

Canon toner type GPR-6, correct? Open the front cover. Rotate lever to release toner/developer unit. Pull the unit straight out until it stops. Insert new cartridge to line up with top of toner/developer unit at a slight angle (lower at back) Once the cartridge stops at the rear (I would hold the toner/developer unit with one hand while inserting the cartridge) then lower the front end of toner cartridge down on top of the unit.....press down until toner cart. clicks into place. You will know because a tab pops out the front with clear plastic attatched. Pull the tab to release toner and release top of toner/dev. unit. Keep pulling until it stops. Wait about 7 seconds, now tap on toner cartridge to release all loose toner (don't forget to shake toner before opening) After about 15 seconds, toner should be fully loaded. Now push top cover of toner/developer unit back in until it latches, you will know because the empty cartridge releases from the unit. Now remove empty cartridge, reinsert unit, turn latch handle and close front cover.
