I have a Kenwood Major mixer that gives off smoke an electrical burning smell from the motor when running. Is it worth repairing?

hi its not necessarily the motor but could be some capacitors on the speed control unit ( the control knob is attached to it) spares are reasonable to buy .you can find a dealer from kenwood.co.uk website..

Mixer part not rotating

Have recently inherited an old Kenwood Major A707A with same problem, contacted local electrical repair man, experienced with Kenwood mixers. He is fitting a new clutch, will cost about £30. I think its worth it. Anyone out there know where I can get Instruction Manual ?

Blakeslee (Kenwood) A717 mixer speed control

I had the same problem. Had to strip the machine down to get to the motor. On the top is a moving plate with various capacitors etc mounted. On the front side there was a Capacitor (At least I think it was) with the wire broken.
I resoldered it and the machine now works fine.

I hope this helps

Speed control not work - constantly on high

The resistor will have failed. The A701 replacement is a 450 ohm 15W or 20W wirewound resistor. The capaicitor also can fail if the resistor has gone. It is a mains capacitor 0.1 microfarad. The modern mains capacitors are better to use than the old electrolytic type that were originally in the mixer.
