I tried charging my mp3 device from a work computer and once I placed it into the USB port the device locked. I doesn't seem to reset or stay powered up--just shows padlock icon then disconnects again, did I ruin the device? Or is there a solution?

  • Anonymous Feb 19, 2008

I have the same problem. I made sure the key isn't locked. But it still shows the padlock icon on screen. I also tried to use the 'reset', but it doesn't work...Any idea?

My hold switch was broken. It slid too easily back and forth; you should be able to feel it doing something.

To fix: remove the two screws at the USB end; carefully pry the front face up until you can remove the hold slider. Either fix the back of the broken slider OR do what I did: manually move the internal switch out of the hold position and break off the other side of the slider (I can't use hold anymore; but, I don't have to worry about it breaking in the hold position again).

I can't my samsung yp-u2j in my pc an i already

You need to upgrade your player’s firmware if you experience any of the following:

  • When your attempt to use the player, the Found New Hardware bubble appears and then flashes between several messages including MTP Connected, Don't Disconnect, MTP Device found, MTP Device may not work properly, or There was a problem during installation.
  • The player constantly appears and disappears in Device Manager or appears in Device Manager with an exclamation point indicating an error.
  • Your computer sounds the connecting and disconnecting chime when you connect the player to the USB port.
  • The player does not appear in My Computer.
  • Uninstalling Windows Media Player 11 and using Windows Media Player 10 corrects the issue.
  • When you use the player on another PC or laptop, it works flawlessly.
  • Your player was working properly with Windows Media Player 10, but you’ve recently upgraded to Windows Media Player 11 and your computer no longer detects it.
  • Go to Samsung.com, enter in the model u have in the search area and then go to support, this should fix the problem!

YP-U2JXB & YP-U2JZW Won't sync...Help!

Error C00D1236 virtually always indicates one of two things:

1) The device is trying to sync hidden files--are there any?
2) There is licensed media that is being synced, and the license is either corrupt or has expired. If you have any licensed media, then try going back to where you purchased it (in an iTunes-like music management program? In WMP?) and refresh/renew the license.

The bad news is that until C00D1236 is resolved, you can't sync your device. frown.gif

You can bypass syncing, and directly transfer files, In my computer, the mp3 plaer will be shown as a drive.

Now if one of the two solutions above is not feasible for u, try this:

In case you have a problem to connect your Samsung YP-U2J Mp3 player, you should update Firmware to get it working. The new Firmware may be downloaded from Samsung.com.
