CD drive no longer exists

Re the Ripping problem, for Win7:

To rip music from an audio CD

1. Click the Start button , click All Programs, and then click Windows Media Center.
2. If Media Center is not in full-screen mode, click the Maximize button in the upper-right corner of the window.
3. Insert an audio CD into the CD-ROM drive on your computer. The CD will start playing automatically.
4. On the Now Playing screen, click Rip CD. (If you navigated away from the Now Playing screen, you can always return there from the Windows Media Center start screen by scrolling to Music, clicking Music library, clicking Albums, and then clicking the CD you inserted.)
5. If this is the first time you've ripped a CD, follow the instructions on the CD Ripping Options screen. (You won't see this screen the next time you rip a CD.)
6. In the Rip CD dialog box, click Yes to rip the tracks to your computer. The ripped music files are automatically added to your Music library.

Re the webcam problem, would need more info. Do you know if the laptop has webcam software installed at all?

Can you suggest which OS you are using?
Does this problem exist for all the CDs/DVDs?
Try to insert bootable CD and try boot from it and check if it works.
You can try blank cd and just write it using NERO and check.

If you have verified the problem exists on more than 1 cd, It sounds like the DVD drive needs to be replaced.

need upgrade software to cd or you need new cd drive to read new game

try to remove it and start laptop and turn it off put it back in and restart it and it will install a default driver for it, hope this helps

Open windows media player and click the Rip tab at the top and select the music you want, then click Rip at the bottom.

Now go to My Docs>Music and they will be in there.

If you have Linux, I will have to pass sorry....!

Hi try rebooting the laptop or if that doesn't work you may have to search of another drivier for the E: drive.

It happened to me ages ago on my acer aspire 5100/5102 wlmi

Update Acer drivers. I lost 1 USB on my Acer. This resolved the issue. After fixing it change settings to allow automatic updates.

open the back cover by unscrewing ..there u can see a small hard drive replace with a new one...

I am going to recommend that if you have any of the restore cds that you should use them. If you do not have them you can order them through the acer web site.

When you pop in the cd you need to make sure you boot to the cd then follow all of the instructions.
