How can I hide my number when making a call

In many countries, you can enter a code before you dial a number and your phone number will be blocked from appearing on the recipient's caller ID. The code varies depending on your country and your service provider, and it is not possible to block in all countries. Enter the prefix, followed immediately by the number you are dialing. For example, if you are in the US and want to call (555)123-4567, you would enter *675551234567.
  • North America - *67 or #31#
  • Albania, Australia, Denmark, Greece, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden: #31#
  • Argentina, Iceland, Switzerland, South Africa: *31*
  • Germany: *31# or #31#
  • Hong Kong: 133
  • Japan: 184
  • UK and Ireland: 141
  • New Zealand: 0197 (Telecom) or *67 (Vodafone)
  • Australia: 1831 or #31#
  • India: *31# - Must be enabled by network.
  • If your country is not listed, chances are you can use either *67 or #31#. Most GSM mobile networks work with #31#.

You can as well change the settings from your mobile device by turning off your show caller id from the call settings.

The caller id on my bt 7600 is not working

Hello friend,

I cannot find the user guide for this particular phone, but from other BT phones it appears you do not have to do anything !!!! It should automatically show the number IF it is sent by your Telephone Company.

DO NOT forget, that you MUST get your Telephone Service Provider to 'enable' Caller ID on your telephone line.(This normally costs about a Pound a month). or the numbers will not show.

Our phone just stopped showing caller ID one day. No just shows "external" and no number.

It is my understanding the caller ID feature comes as part of your telephone service and your phone only displays what comes through. So either you changed the subscription which means you dropped the Caller ID feature or your BT plan does not have it anymore. Best to call BT and confirm.

Seimens Gigaset AL285 BSNL caller ID not working

The source of my caller ID not displaying was a faulty ADSL filter.
For some reason my ADSL filter blocked the caller id information - but worked fine otherwise.
When I changed the filter the caller ID worked fine again.

Caller id is not working in my cordless phone. Instead of number of a caller, "Incoming Call" is showing. Please help me

Caller ID on landline phones relies on signals from the telephone service provider. Some companies charge extra if you wish to enable the service, others include it automatically, so you need to check with them first.

Even if you have caller ID enabled, callers can choose to withhold their number. Large companies which make lots of outgoing calls (especially cold callers) often have their service set to automatically withhold their number. In many countries, all other callers can choose to do so by prefixing all dialled numbers with a short code, e.g. in the UK it's 141. Mobile phone callers can usually alter a setting on their handset so that caller ID is withheld when making outgoing calls.

Caller id

Caller ID in the USA uses the FSK standard. For the most part, caller ID in India uses DTMF (although I have heard of some FSK usage).

I am currently living in New Delhi and have an Airtel home phone line. My switch uses DTMF. I went to the Palika electronics bazaar (I aways use shop number 266 near gate 5, they seem to be a little kinder to foreigners as far as the "final price") and purchased an DTMF to FSK convertor. My US phones now show caller ID information, although using US number seperations ### - ### - ####. I paid R500 but you could probably get it for around R400 if you are willing to put in the time bargaining. It looks like they are also available on Indian Ebay.

Mine says UST001B. It looks like these are low volume items because they stuck the components into a box marked "DSL Splitter" It works to convert the caller ID as advertised.
