check if the compressor is engaged...if not, check if there is refrigerant in your system...
there is a pressure switch that would de-activate ur compressor when low on refrigerant..
tnx,

Happened to me too, when the ECO light comes on automaticly (and it only blows hot air) it means it's simply broke.
I don't know the exact production date of your car, but there is/was an airco-related dealer recall for some cars, so just contact your dealer and have it fixed, but don't forget to mention the recall (it might save you a lot of money when your warranty has already expired).
SOURCE: Air con hissing noise from vents
Strongly suspect the AC system has sprung a leak somewhere and the refrigerant is 'low' - the 'hissing' noise you hear is normal when the system is 'undercharged.' Solution is inspect the system & repair the leak. If it turns out there is NO leak, then the problem is either at the compressor (low head pressure) and/or the expansion valve at the evaporator.

I read on another site to check the "yellow" connector under the passenger seat. Connector ncould be loose or wires that go in the connector may be loose.
