Kenmore Elite dishwasher Smart Wash light blinking
Sanitize Blinking Light
Some Kenmore dishwashers have a sanitize feature; when this light blinks, it means the sanitization step failed because the hot water in the dishwasher did not achieve the desired temperature or the final rinse cycle was interrupted.
Most likely a problem with the temperature sensing that lets the dishwasher heater run without turning off. Not sure why the thermal fuse does not cut in to protect the heater.
Try to unstick the float. The float tells the DW how much water is in it at any given time. It is shaped like a mushroom on the bottom of the DW basin. Gently pick it up and set it back down. Does it seem free? Try the cycle again.
Sounds like the timer module is going bad. Might be getting moisture on contacts. That would explain why it works one time and not the next.Just trying to help!
If three lights are blinking (normal, heavy, quick)... I just had this same problem, and I think I figured it out. There was
water on the bottom from the last cycle, so I pressed HEAVY and DELICATE
at the same time for 3 seconds (you'll see it printed on the control
panel), and the unit drained. I was then able to start the new cycle
normally without the error. Hope that helps!
I just read this for the same problem: push sanitize, then heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, cancel, then open and close the door. It worked. The dishwasher is running correctly even as I type this.
