Only need a simple double pole, single throw toggle switch. One side to power (battery) other to solid ground, to run power to starter motor Starter motor may have a ground on it also. See u-tube video, starting a riding mower.

I HAVE A BRIGGS AND STRATTON ENGINE THAT IS NOT FIRING ,i NEED HELP

Hello Rodger. I'm George. Try this. Pull the engine cover off and using a 3 x 5 index card to set the gap between the coil and flywheel magnets. Once you do that, try and start the engine. If this doesnt work, locate the wire going to the coil. Pull it off and move it away from the flywheel to keep it from getting cut and start the engine. This will isolate the coil from all of the safety switches that come on today's mowers. If it starts, your coil is good and you have a safety switch that is causing the problem. You will have to choke the engine to get it to stop because the wire you took of the coil is your kill wire. If the engine doesn't start, your coil is bad and needs replaced. Good Luck and Thanks. George

Try this locate your coil / magneto and disconnect the kill "shut off wire " and try to start if it starts your switch may be bad or wire broken..if still no spark using a rubber handled pliers ...Pull your plug wire and place a screwdriver or similar metal piece and in the plug wire now bring the screw driver close to the engine block or Frame if spark it is your plug..if not your coil needs replaced...not a hard job just use a business card to set clearance on your coil..good luck
