Here is a link to Seagate's website Download area. All manuals should be available for download from there: MANUAL

Make sure you are storing them in both places. I have a hunch that even though you are storing them in the my documents folder it is the one on the external drive that is storing them & when you are trying to delete the computer is reading them as stored to the external & is deleting from there. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

Have you accessed it in the disk utility? ( applications-utilities-disk utility) try running repair disk first (select the drive first though) then repair permissions (on both the external and main drive)
SOURCE: I need to recover deleted pics
I have had success with this... Download Asoftech Photo Recovery program
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/
You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.
Hi,
1. Drag or export the photos to another device and delete the originals out of I photo. The problem with this is that you will no longer be able to revert those images to your originals. Using the export function for this gives you more options than drag and drop.
2. Hold down the option key when you open I photo will allow you to create a new I photo library on an external drive hooked to a USB. This means you have all the options of I photo, while storing the images somewhere else.
3. Copy and paste your entire existing I photo library to an external USB drive, then delete as much of your old library as you wish which could be all of it. Do this from your pictures folder on your hard drive, not I photo itself. This option allows your photos elsewhere while preserving all the I photo functions including your ability to revert to original.
Let us know if you want something else please accept the solution.
