first check color level setting on the tv when on av source input. double check input you are using, yellow video input (not green)
then try another device in that same input, then try the DVD player on another tv. The problem will be either DVD player or incompatibility or bad main board in TV, but usually a DVD or compatibility problem(cheap DVD player)

You haven't given the exact model number ot your LG DVD, so I can only give you a general solution to this problem.
Get into its meny, surf through, come to SYSTEM adjust window, change the system. If a NTSC system recorded disc played with PAL system adjustment with DVD, there will be only black/white pciture, and vice versa.
Adjust it to the color system thathave been adopted your country. this must solve the problem. OK.

see if you television works fine. if yes, check the wires of the player see if they're connected properly.if the video is still in black and white.

Go to the "Bose" menu screen viewing on your TV (make sure no dvd is in the player) Go to your Video controls and check your output, chances are, if your using the component output your player is set to "S-Video".
