Roper gas dryer does not heat.

Roper heavey duty professional gas dryer does not heat. I repalced the ignitor and still no heat. The unit is pluged in and does operate, but does NOT produce any heat. There is gas up to the gas valve, but gas does not flow to the ignitor. Is there a procedure that has to be done before the ignitor heats and the gas flows?

Thanks for your help. Tom

If the ignitor is not powering , go to the switch. That has to send power to the ignitor, then on to the gas valve.

Dryer running ,but no heat.Roper gas dryer,mod - RGD440VQ0, Sn - MW/2901047

Most common reasons for a gas dryer to fail: 1. No electric, 2. no gas supply, 3. failed ignitor, 4. failed flame sensor. If 1 & 2 are ruled out, then we go from there. An ignitor/glow ignitor is what gets hot and allows the gas to be ignited. Most dryers will not let the igntior come on if the flame sensor is down. Replacing an ignitor is very easy. Usually 1 screw and a molex (special type of plastic electrical connection). Molex connection will usually pull apart very easily. This repair should cost less than about $30 if you buy it online. There are step by step instructions for this repair on this website if you search for "gas dryer no heat troubleshooting." Making this repair will require access to the internal workings of your dryer. Make sure the dryer is unpluged from the wall before you access it or the control panel.

Dryer won heat timer dosen't avance

huntman, the model posted shows as a gas dryer. In the lower left side there is a square plastic peep hole. Take a putty knife and pull it off. Set the dryer to high heat and take a look in the hole. Does the ignitor glow? If it doesn't you either have a bad thermal fuse or a bad ignitor. Start with the thermal fuse. You will have to remove the back panel to get at it. I will attach a photo. You can ohm it out, or just jump the wires temp. to see if the ignitor glows. If theral fuse is good and the ignitor does glow, you probabley have a bad set of coils. These sit on the gas valve are easy to replace. The timer won't advance without the heat. Check this out first...Catriver..post back.
