Sony KDS R50XBR1 TV, LIME GREEN PIC

I have a Sony KDS R50XBR1 TV. Bought in June 2006. A couple of months after we bought it the TV srceen picture will show a Bright LIME GREEN screen picture. The audio works fine.. This happens intermittant, but gets worse weekly.. HDMI connection only, the other TV inputs work OK.

If all sources and hdmi cable are good--you need the hdmi input board--dont know sonys letter designation

Hi,
It is clear symptoms of weak lamp in TV, replace lamp to correct that problem.
Lamp replacement is easy and written in user manual of TV.
Please buy Sony original lamp for TV safety.

Picture has a green shade to it that will not gop away no matter how much I try to adjust it.

You have a bad light engine, unfortunately the Sony extended warranty on this set expired June 30,2009.

You don't have any Sony extended the warranty on these sets but it expired in June, 2009.

I too have a Sony KDS-R60XBR1 tv and the issue that you are experiencing is due to one of your fans in the rear of the tv is not working. The tv automatically shuts off in protective mode. Make sure the POWER/STANDBY light is blinking and not the lamp light below it. Is the power/standby blinking 4 times in red? If, yes then its a fan that needs to be replaced. If its the lamp light blinking then you need to replace the lamp. The lamp is easy to replace by ordering the lamp either from Sony for $250 or find it cheaper for approx. $150 from other DLP sources and replace youself by following your manual. I hope this helps you.

Just replace its Lamp and procedure is written in user manual of KDS-R50XBR1

Lamp is available in Sony Accessories and price is $250
Always buy Sony original lamp for good picture in TV and avoid aftermarket / cheap lamps that can cause damage of TV circuits.

Sounds like your optical block neeeds replaced, my kds-r50xbr1 just started getting the yellow-green haze who knew $3000 t.v's would only last 2 years urghh check out this link to sony and call the (866) 850-8674
