however a 80 OEP gear oil will do the job

any short reach plug from a mower shop will do the job

Check the compression of the motor

you need a valve job the hotter the motor the more unseated the valves

I have a Briggs and Stratton 4 stroke motor on a rotary hoe that stalls under load...

Take the model, type, and code number from the motor with you to the local shop and they should be able to identify the proper kit.
The numbers are usually stamped on the flywheel cover. either on top ( by the head) or on the side or on the front directly over the flywheel fan.

If this engine is a Briggs & Stratton 3.5HP then is is a 4 stroke motor that uses straight petrol. For this engine specification check out this WEB site.

As far as any engine manuals. The engine type model and series are stamped into the air shroud not far from the spark plug wire. http://www.briggsandstratton.com Type in your engine model type series and you can download you parts and engine manual.
