Testing a 1979 Johnson 9.9 with muffs before using, water comes out of the idle holes but water from the tube is very hot, spits. Is there a grommet in the head which might prevent flow of water?

If water gets out the idle holes it's ok, you have cooling.
Off course, that spitting water is hot, it's mixed with 850°C exhaust gasses...
But, you should also have a waterjet coming from the tube at the starboard back of the engine. No jet, first thing to do is remove the hose connected to it inside the cowling and clean the jet in the cowling. Start the engine and look if water is running out the hose. If no water flows: check your impeller.

Looking for a part name on a 1992 Johnson 70hp, where the water comes out, the little plastic piece that holds the tube in place.

Here are the parts schematics, but you need the proper engine model number. The best way is to go to a local Johnson outboard dealer as they will has all the diagrams

https://www.google.com/search?q=1992+johnson+70+hp+parts+schematic

That tube has a common name, but this website's profanity filter will probably not allow it. replace the two '**' in this Google search link with 'ee'.

https://www.google.com/search?q=1992+johnson+70+hp+p**+hole

At the bottom of the page is this, which will also get flagged by the profanity filter. Add ' pp ' instead of $$.

Removing GROMMETS safely!

Nothing worse than flapping sidecovers or loose parts on your motorcycle! Especially if you have ruined the rubber retaining grommet yourself.

Removing RUBBER grommets of any age without undue damage, can be achieved by heating the grommet from both sides (if possible).

Use a heat gun or even a handheld hairdryer with a nozzle, to heat the grommet to a temperature of about 50 degrees celsius or 125 Fahrenhiet or as hot as your fingers can hold comfortably.

Whilst hot, push BOTH edges of flange towards centre of hole until BOTH edges are clear of inner diameter of hole on the part. Push through to the clear side from this edge you have distorted inwards, working around in both directions simutaneously.

To replace them afterwards, submerge in hot water until hot and squeeze together from edges to form an oval. Insert an end into place and then feed each side in simultaneously. A light smear of liquid detergent will facilitate this, but is slippery on the fingers too. No need to use tools, they will detroy them! Cheers.

Have 20 yr old GR refrigerator and the drain tube may be plugged. We tried cleaning it but water is still dripping to bottom of frig. What should we do?

Sometimes there is a grommet between the inside and outside of the refrigerator especially on older GE refrigerators. If you look at the back of the refrigerator and there is a grommet on the back with a tube coming from it then that is what you have. GE put a trap in the grommet and you will more than likely have to pull this off and flush it out. It should be fairly easy to pull it out and push it back in.
Other than that you will have to pour hot water in the drain until it thaws out.

1994 90HP johnson outboard

Hi, your problem is simple you either have a head gasket gone or a exhaust plate/gasket gone. Either will let water into a cylinder which is why it ran ok without water. You should also check the water pump in the leg as you have now run it without water. Regards Phil.

Breville hot cup

Breville Hot Cup spitting:
Hi Louise.
My HAZ upright kettle did the same thing recently.
Sounds like your element-tube has a rust-hole, which allowed water to enter the normally dry and cozy filament area. The water that seeps inside hits the red-hot filament, vaporises to steam which violently expands out of the pinhole.
Remove element, check for corrosion, renew.
Hope this helps. Clive.

Gas coming out of breather tube for rocker arm cover

Did you clean the needle valve/seat ?
Sounds like the float is not closing off the gas flow.
Could also be the float has a hole in it that let gas into the air chamber of the float. Be worth checking.
Pull the float and put it into hot water. If air bubbles come out the float has a hole.

Johnson 140 1979 wont pump water with muffs on hasnt been run for 10yr but fired up straight away always been fresh water clean out been told either the impellar or maybe thermostat stuck ?

My money is on the impeller since it will stick or just dry out and get brittle. The "fins" have to bend to pump water. I'm surprised the top seal is still intact after 10 years.

15 hp outboard 2 stroke running with water muffs on,there is no water coming out of the **** tube? Check the impeller? where is it? Just bought the the motor.

Impeller is at the bottom in the housing. it may take a few mins for the water to come out of the tell tale hole. Ensure that your muffs are on properly and wait for a bit. Also insure that the hole is not plugged.

Water leaking out from under fridge. No icemaker, freezer on top. Model # ET1CHMXKQ05

this problem is easy fix you a 1/4 nut driver remove the 2 screws that hold tge back cover in the frezzer section under the evaporator you should see the drain hole if you see a lot of ice in the drainunder evaporator your drain is iced up and wtr not draining properly you can use hot wtr to de iced drain until you can see the water drain properly or turn off the thermostat and open both doors for 2 days and it will defrost it self . now to keep it from doing it again you will need 2 parts that you can buy realy cheap 1 is call a heat brobe 2 is call a drain tube grommet the grommet goes on your drain tube at back of unit by compressor it let water out but keeps air out from going up to drain and creating condensation and pluging drain with ice. heat probe is used to defrost any ice forming in drain hole in the frezeer section that part attaches to the heater coil around the evaporator you might have to cut a piece off like a 1/4 of inch .
