SOURCE: Can't select Velvet Fine Art media type when using sheet feeder as source.
I had the same problem, same printer. So with a little checking I found a solution. The paper has to be fed through the single page paper feeder. (See manual to setup. Can be downloaded from Epson.) Select manual/roll in the page setup section when you're ready to print. For instance, I was using 8.5 X 11 velvet, so select letter > then subset of roll/manual. After doing this velvet and other specialty paper profiles were selectable.
SOURCE: When paper is fed into the sheet feeder it jammes
Hello there
You may not see a paper jam.
This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you.
Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.
First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.
If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.
And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.
Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

If the paper jams, do
the following:
1. Gently pull any jammed paper out from the output
tray or sheet feeder.
2. To eject the jammed paper, try turning the Epson
Stylus NX400 off and then back on.
If that doesn't work and paper is stuck inside, turn off the Epson Stylus
NX400. Open the scanner, remove the jammed paper and torn pieces, close the
scanner, and turn the Epson Stylus NX400 back on.
