All usb ports on my HP Pavilion dv5000 do not recognise any device attached to them. Hoevevr when thr same devices in pugged into another computer they work perfectly.

Unistalled the USB Generic Root Hub Drivers from the Device Manager by right clicking on the generic root hubs and then restart the notebook and This will fix this issue for you....:)

Hi, I'm not sure as to the part number but , i have just looked on ebay and there are a few around the $100 mark.Check this one out it is $109 but it is factory sealed and glossy, there are others, but becarefull that you don't pick a matt screen, unless you want matt.

My laptop (HP Pavilion DV5000) shuts down in the process of reformatting.

Go into Control Panel and change the power settings so it never hibernates or dims screen.

Battery with HP Pavillion DV5000 won't work. Do I need to replace the battery or is there a battery charger I could use to recharge the battery? Dianne

You can order a power cable online or pick one up at your local computer store. They should run between $80-150. The battery itself is very expensive to purchase but is rechargeable.

I found the Service Manual of the Notebook which contains the procedure about how to remove each and every component of your Notebook and below is the link to access the same :
