SOURCE: scsi tape drive
Hello Rivcr, 1. Check for a terminator on the back of the scsi unit. 2. Make sure you have power. 3. make sure power switch is on. 4. Select a different scsi id number, not 0 or 1 or 7. Does this help?
SOURCE: I have hp surestore DLT1e drive. Tape cartridge stuck!
For that you can try to press and hold the eject buttonfor 30 seconds if the tape doesn't came out then reflash the drive firmware revision.
After all that is the issue persists you can try to:
manually remove the tape by removing the top cover
Locate recessed thumb
wheel
Rotate thumb wheel
counter-clockwise until you feel resistance. Wheel may spring back when you
release it. This is OK.
Locate hole in bottom of
drive. Insert #10 Torx driver and rotate clockwise until tape
ejects. If there is a lot of tape on the take up reel, this could take some
time.
Rotate thumb wheel
clockwise to eject the tape.
SOURCE: forgot service password for HP Surestore Tape Autoloader 1/9 DLT
This legacy devices service password can be reseated by following this steps:
The following is required before resetting the password:
The display shows a
valid date and time
Do the following:
NOTE: As an example, 2000
02/07 2:30 is displayed (February 7, 2000 at 2:30). Plugging in the numbers:
(2 * 1001) + (7 * 101) + 2 + 2000 = 4711
4711 * 123 = 59453
Convert all digits to be between 1 and 4 = 131413
Add the leading 1s to make it eight digits long -
11131413
SOURCE: 4MM Dat Tapes - not
You're not gonna like it but here it is - the information on those tapes cannot be recovered easily: the old tape unit had its heads slightly misaligned and the data was written on the tape also misaligned so it's not readable on a new unit. The only way to recover the information is to try to replicate the misalignment in another unit and that will be almost impossible - it involves manually adjusting the angle of the shaft of the rotary head by fraction of a degree.
