Connecting canon mx472 to new router. How do I do this?

You have to make sure that the I.P. address, Subnet and Default Gateway are set to match the new routers parameters. (i.e.) I.P.: 192.168.1.44 Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.254 on the old router.
I.P.: 40.11.120.99 Subnet: 255.255.252.0 Default Gateway: 40.11.1.254
As long as the Subnet & Default Gateways and the I.P config is within the scope of the new router, you should be good. Just remember: All PCs/Laptops will have to reconfigured for the printer's new config also.

Don't know my old passphrase, I have model #wgr614, trying to set-up my new printer and they want to know the passphrase, I put what I can remember and it says it is wrong. How do I set a new password...

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover a lost or forgotten password from a router or access point; you will need to reset the device to factory defaults. However, once the device is reset to factory defaults, you can use the default username ("admin") and password (either "password" or "1234" depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings.

or

if there is a small hole in the front or back of the router push a hair pin in to reset to factory settings

hope this helps

I have a sony all in one computer with windows 7, a nextgear router and a brother hl 4070cdw wireless printer. Yesterday, the router was replaced by our local telephone service when we changed our phone...

Your printer is apparently still set with the IP address of the old router. You can either change the IP in the printer settings to match the router or uninstall the printer software and reinstall it and let it auto detect the router IP.

Why can my z1420 not find my new router . It worked on the old one. When I try to print I get a message saying 'problem communicating with the printer.

Most probably the printer network settings is still configured with the settings of your old router. You will need to reset the printer's network settings before configuring it with the new one. Here's an article in the Lexmark website on how to reset the Lexmark Z1420. http://bit.ly/bVr6L1. Just follow the instructions. Basically, all you need to achieve is to have a solid orange wifi light on. Then, install the printer with the new network like how you're setting it up for the first time. Hope this helps. If you need more assistance, leave a comment and I'll get back to it. Thanks.

How do i set up without the installation cd

Try this after you've pressed the small reset button on your router follow this procedure:
  1. Turn off your modem, routers, computer, and wifi receivers, and laptops and printers on the network.
  2. Connect the Wifi router with an internet cable to the modem. The router will have an internet input port (ethernet) that should be labeled differrent than the rest of the ethernet ports on the router. Plug the ethernet into the internet or modem port on the router, and to the modem...DON'T TURN THE MODEM ON YET.
  3. Turn your router's power on and let it cycle up.
  4. Then after the router is up, turn on your modem and let it cycle up. It will find your router as the main MAC address and this will establish communication between router and the internet via modem.
  5. After your modem is cycled and all lights are correct, you can turn on any computer, printer etc... and the router will assign MAC addresses to your printer etc while maintaining a proper internet connection.
that's all you should need...Since you already have a working modem to pc... remember this "firing order" and if you have a power outage or have to move again, you'll be good to go.

Networked Canon imageRunner 2800 printer stopped printing right

Your modem was almost certainly your router and contained a static IP address for your copier. Check what IP address your copier used to use. In the Printer Properties/Preferences can't remember which there should be a TCP/IP port. What is the IP address for this?
Go into the copier, go to Additional Functions > System Settings > Network Settings > TCP/IP settings > IP address. Turn DHCP off (make sure DHCP box is filled with white). Enter IP address. Press Ok/Enter (if there is a button that says so, can't remember at the moment)
Turn copier off using main power switch on right hand side of copier then back on again.
Does it work? If yes, good.
No, check the IP address of your new modem/router e.g. 192.168.0.1. Is the IP address of the copier in the same range, that is are the first three out of four numbers the same (last number must be different)? If not, change the copier's IP address so that the first three numbers are the same. Make sure the copier uses the same Subnet Mask as the router/modem e.g. 255.255.255.0. For the subnet mask all four numbers must be the same.

Connection problems

You have to go into the settings on your router. (check manual)

www.routerloin.net <---This is usually the address, hopefully you remember the password. The defalt
LOGIN : ADMIN
PASSWORD :ADMIN

and make sure you have "radio" turned ON. If "radio" is turned off the router will not send it's ID to any device. It will have to be manually input into the PS3.

Hope this helps!

Wireless routers

Just plug the cable modem ethernet into the input to your router and you will be fine. Just remember, if you decide you want to make any changes to your router settings through your browser, make sure you hook up an ethernet line from your laptop to the router before making any changes. The reason for this is if you make a change in security settings on your router while wireless, the router will reboot and if your laptop did have the settings changed in it, you can be locked out.
Not that you can't get back in, but it is a pain to have to do.
