Hello
If the battery isn't too far gone, here's how to revive it: Plug the device into the Kindle A/C adapter (not your computer) and let it charge for a few hours. If you still see the same Critical Battery screen after charging, unplug the USB cord, then hold the power slide to the right for at least 20 seconds

I am asking if there is anything I can do to charge my Kindle...perhaps you can recommend the best car and electric chargers.

Hi Kathleen -

The Kindles I've seen all recharge off a standard USB type charger or from the USB port of a PC / Mac. The fastest charge will come from a 5VDC / 2.1 amp USB charge port on an AC (home) or DC (car) charger. There are some expensive types with "Quick Charge" or "Rapid Charge" technology that your Kindle will not be able to make use of - so skip those and save your money for the 5VDC / 2.1 amp USB types.

My Kindle will not charge

Here's a possibility, I just plugged in my Kindle Paperwhite using the Kindle charger and USB cable. It wouldn't charge.
I kept it plugged in all afternoon and it accepted no charge although it showed the little lightning bolt on the icon suggesting it was charging.

I unplugged the charger (it has two prongs) and reversed it so
the logo was on top and, Lo and Behold it charged. It could be the plug is not omniidirectional (i.e. it is polarized)

My kindle will not charge?

The Kindle Fire HD, if completely discharged, may take several hours to begin to accept a charge again. Simply leave it plugged in long enough and the on-board system will sort it out.

My kindle is not charging what can I do

You could replace the charger and or the cable. And if you have switched both, and it still won't charge, you have to face perhaps the kindle is defect. Or at least the connector.
To come to the right diagnose, you have to exclude every part. by establishing what part is correct and what part you don't trust till one is over.

Why wont my kindle hd charge?

It could be the charger itself. Try taking the USB cable out of the charger and plug it into your computer, then plug in the Kindle. Your computer's USB port should be able to charge it. If it still doesn't charge, you might have a bigger issue with the tablet itself.

Charging port is bent. Well not accept the charger to charge the kindle

My guess is that it is not the charging port..... but, the cord end. It might have been stepped on, or something. What you first might want to do before anything is try a different cord, unless you can see that the problem is definitely the charging port.

My kindle won t turn on

Her is a possible solution:
1. Plug into the original charger, hold the power down for a full 30 seconds, release. Let charge in this state for 12 hours.
2. Lease the device plugged into the charger, while you have the device plugged into power, press the power button for a full 40 seconds, release. Wait for 5 seconds and then press and release the power button. Did the device wake up? No, continue to step 3.
3. Plug the device into another charger, if you do not have an charger from another phone go to Staples or Radio Shack pick up a new Kindle or Universal charger, make sure you can return the charger.
4. Plug the Kindle into the new or alternate charger. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds release. Let charge for 12 full hours.
5. Unplug the Kindle from the charger.
6. Press the power button for 40 seconds - time it. Release the power button, wait for 5 seconds, then press and release the power button. The Kindle should wake up. If not, proceed to step 7.
7. If you can not wake up the Kindle from a 'hard reset' the Contact Amazon directly for a replacement.
