I'm not sure about the reliability of the information you got. According to the service manual, 6 blinks on this set (KP57WS500) indicates a low B+ condition, a short or load on the 5 volt line, probably on the A or B boards. Start by checking IC2 on the A board, this is the 5 volt regulator. If it is good, then you have to start disconnecting things to see what's loading the line. I would suggest the video driver IC's which are on the CRT pcbd's, you can disconnect them one at at time and monitor the 5 volt line to see if it comes up. Remember to rate this soltuion please. Thanks!

If you actually have a flat panel set, then the "fix" you list is not applicable. Those are for a standard CRT based Sony set. Can you please post the make and model of your unit. We can then look up the diagnostic code and provide you with a proper diagnosis and solution.
Thanks,
Dan

Sounds like the thermal fuse has gone bad. Sony part# 191002393. Very enexpensive part. It is located near the lamp housing from the back of the set. Once you have the new part in your hand, it will be easy to find.
