I have a 3 year old LG, led 47", model no. 47LN5400. TV has sound but no images. I tested the tv according to tutorials, and with a flashlight I am able to see the images. What is the problem?

He may be right, LG is used to be called GOLD STAR, which makes junky electronic products, they changed the name to make it sounds better.

Power Supply board have bad leakage capacitors,puff up or burt open.Know how to solder?Search those Capacitors replaced them in ur power supply.Ur tv should power up right away.

I have the lg 47 lcd and i had the same problem for about 1-2 months ,but out of the blues the sound just got really louder ,i think the speakers broke in and it the sound normalized.But my tv sounds great now , my kids even asked me if i did something. Maybe just give it a little time.

The backlight is out most likely caused by either the T conn or the Invertor. The invertor is most likely you can get replacement boards from www.tvcircuitboards.com leave a email if your not sure what you need.

Yes you can do-it-yourself its sounds like the Back light led's in the back of the flat screen are not getting power. it could be 1 of 2 boards inside the chassis of the TV look online and put that model number in when you look.

My TV is a LG 47LN5700-UH I had a lightning strike near the house. Afterward TV would start but not boot completely. Now it won't start at all. Cable box also got fried at the same time.

The led driver AND the T-con board are bad. If you could see a picture with the flashlight then the T-con board would be good. It is not. The led driver can be on the main board or the power supply board. You can get these parts from here: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/ To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. Can you tell if LED tv has bad LED strips before changing LED Board/Power Supply (as they're in one piece on a lot of TVs)?

This is not easy to diagnose, either use a meter on the power cable to the led or check the leds one at a time

I have sound but no picture, did the flashlight test and see images. When I test for back lights they come on and then go off when I turn the tv on. Do I need the power supply board/LED driver board?
