My Woods upright freezer;Model v10wua1 stopped freezing-purchased with the house in 2007.I had this issue1 other time & followed directions & it has worked since then.Is it worth trying to repair?

Woods is no longer in business. Some of their upright freezers were recalled but I was not original owner.

If unit is running then it is not worth fixing. I cannot see your repyl due to some tech issue w/ the site, so it may be a day or so before I can reply again. Please leave feedback for me if appropriate. Thanks

SOURCE: problem with upright freezer not freezing

It sounds like the unit is low on freon or the compressor is going bad. You have several other components that could be affecting this as well. Make sure the coils are free from dust and clean underneath. This is a bit premature for you to have problems now, especially since it is a Sears product.

I would look at the defrost control [sometimes they are defrost clocks]Maybe that the freezer is not defrosting.

the drain needs to be check for any kind of blockage. if the drain is blocked or frozen over this needs to be cleared

Not the best idea. We had one in our garage where it got cold but not that awful cold. Not a good idea unless you want to take a chance.If the unit shuts down for a long time because of the cold the system could freeze or seize up.

Just bought a Woods Upright freezer, not sure when it was last used, but when I got it home, i turned the knob to the cooldest setting (7) and it kiced on. how long should it take to start freezing. I have...

Freezer should not take more than 2 hours to.be at minus 10celcius. If only cold and not seeing any ice on the inside wall this could mean that there is missing refrigerant in the lines. Other way to check is to feel the pipes on the back if hot to the touch. There is many signs to see if your refrigerator is working or not.
If the compressor is running non stop and is very hot it will tell you that there is missing gas in the system.
If compressor is mot warm and is cycling on and off this could be only thermostat issue.

because your drain hole is stopped up clean all of the ice from the area and flush with hot water
