Just set up Alexa a couple days ago but so far am a bit disappointed. Seems quite a few questions I ask she doesn't know how to answer. Do I need to link a Google account? Questions are basic.

Not sure who you are talking to in the 'Additional Information' box below your question. You may have be talking to an AI Answer Bot which has had its answer deleted. That box up there is for Experts to ask you for further information before committing to an answer. The correct way is to click Comment under the Answer you are replying to.

It is a Amazon device that at the moment is not as good as Google at answering questions
you may need to think of different ways to ask the question to get the answer
so attaching a Google account won't make Alexa any better at answering questions as she still gets her answers from Amazon

It is true that many posts are quite old, HOWEVER... I have noticed that FixYa questions/responses are updated into Google's index very rapidly. Things posted only days ago appear there. So if you answer a problem that was a bit old, there is an excellent chance that someone else suffering the same problem will find your response.

Many people have nice computers that are modern and up to date, for example. But I suspect there is an even larger number that are trying to get by with older equipment. I'm an I.T. manager and teacher at a private Christian school - no Federal dollars/etc (as it should be) for equipment or the like. So our computer lab for example still uses XP Pro on older desktops and laptops. Many other people are in similar states, trying to make it by with old computers, telephones, microwave ovens, cars, and the like.

The short answer is: If you see a question and know the solution, post it. You may not help the original poster, but there is an excellent chance you'll help someone else. Try this: Find a new question asked in Fixya in the last day or two. Google the same problem. I'll be surprised if its not already in the index if its more than a day or two old.

The motherboard model that you listed doesn't have support for SATA drives. Are you sure that's the correct model? If so, that's your problem, unless you are using a third-party SATA PCI controller. Then I would need to know the model of that to find the driver you are requesting.
