When the doors are closed the light stays on and the housing gets melted this happened twice
Its the board!...see class action suit against LG for this exact problem
You should know that LG takes no responsibility. If you are unlucky as I was to have contacted an independent repair person, they are unwilling to pay for him to complete the job. They had my warranty registered but are not compelled to notify owners of the settlement or the fact that our warranty is extended for 10 years. No more LG products for me. Try finding any mention of the settlement on their website.

Do you have mechanical button switch that should close the light if you close the door?... they could be defective. try to look for these button switch that the doors presses as you close them. if they dont have, then they may be using a magnetic door switch which would be very hard to locate and trouble shoot.

Have the same problem. Close the doors and the lights stay on, which melts the plastic around the control panel and lights. I am trying to get LG to address this problem. What is with two 60 watt light bulbs in the fridge anyway? The first thing anyone should do is replace the bulbs with a lower wattage. I installed 40 watt bulbs, and still have lots of light. LG needs to address this problem, it seems to be quite common.
i can't get my lg french door fridge to level
